LOL at USA Men's Basketball losing their opening game to France. This NBA C Team thinks they can saunter in and win gold. Newsflash, it's not 1992, the rest of the world has caught up. OTOH, Slovenia Men's Basketball killed it in their Olympic debut vs. Argentina.

Tonight is the men's springboard synchro finals. There is a USA team competing. It will be on USA network.

I am not even following the Olympics that closely,  but the abuse Simone Biles is getting, to the point of being called a "sociopath," makes me sick. No wonder so many have given up on this country.

There was so much hype on Biles. Everywhere you turned she was on TV and everyone saying how great she was. No one to blame but the media.

She got the hype and praise (all deserved) because she’s one of the best American Olympians.  That’s what happens when you’re a huge star.  And when you’re a huge star, you have the most pressure.  Who’s calling her sociopath? Social media? Shouldn’t take them seriously

So far all of Canada’s medals have been women.  Swimming is one of the events I follow the most at the Olympics so it’s great to see the female swimmers doing so well.

I loved the footage of swimmer Lydia Jacoby's family, friends, community going absolutely nuts when she won the gold. She is the first Olympian from Alaska to win the gold. ❤

Also, the lack of consideration for the fact that, along with the weight of expectations, in a city experiencing daily highs of infection rates for COVID-19, without her usual support system of her parents, and being the lone sexual assault survivor of Larry Nassar's "program" expected to compete for Team USA, a team that didn't protect her.  F*CK these people who believe she asked for this because she's great at what she does. The discourse around these Black women athletes at this Olympic Games is disgusting and I just want to punch every single person who thinks he or she has the right to disparage them for being human.

Well... sometimes I wonder if a requirement to be an Olympic diver is that you have to be cute 😂😂

Glad to see that the U.S is now leading in the overall medal count.

LOL what was Xiao Ruoteng (Chinese gymnast) thinking jumping on the podium to celebrate, which isn’t allowed? He’s lucky that 0.3 penalty didn’t cost him the all-around gold medal (it didn’t matter because Daiki Hashimoto of Japan, who won the gold, outscored him by more than that margin). Xiao took silver.

He was feeling himself.

Say it louder! Also, no way Biles would have withdrawn on a pretext. She would never let the rest of the team down as she is close with them. After she stepped away from the team event, she came back out and cheered so loud for the rest of the team! You could hear her cheers as Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles did their elements.

Also, one of the ROC gymnasts (and I'm not sure why Not Russia is there after what they were accused of -- nevertheless, those Russian gymnasts are also young girls and probably have zero say in any of this) ended up doing a solid routine on the beam which essentially gave ROC the scores to clinch the gold medal. As she walked away from the beam, Simone popped up out of nowhere and she and the Russian gymnast quietly bumped fists. I thought that was a gracious move from the GOAT (who is far and above everybody in terms of technique and talent) congratulating another team's gymnast like that.

This probably belongs in the COVID-19 thread but it impacts Japan and the Olympic Games the most. This is pretty much a daily occurrence now.
