Oh nooooo. What an absolute legend. Been watching old Alan clips lately.

Becoming such a tough year for soaps so far…

I knew he was in poor health, but this is such sad news. I've been watching some old Alan and Monica clips, and they really did have a unique chemistry. They might just be the best dysfunctional soap couple of all time.

Another thing I loved about Damon's Alan is that he was one of the few characters who was allowed to really call Sonny and the mob crew out on their BS. Some of his scenes with the post-accident Jason were just dynamite.

Sad news.  I know he has been in poor health over the last few years.  Alan should never have been killed off.  I hope he and his family feel some peace.

After watching that clip, it reminds me that modern fans have no idea how much fun Monica was as a character.  She’s been so neutered by tragedy that she is barely a character at all, let alone the ambitious, passionate and sometimes awful person she was.

I should not be surprised, as I know his health was in decline; nevertheless, I am. :(  This one hurts. Mr. Damon made Alan a true force. May he RIP!

When I was in HS eons ago, he was my crush.  I got home as fast as I could to see GH and Stuart.

This is a huge loss.  He deserves a week long tribute!

RIP to a truly amazing actor!! He made Alan such a love to hate character you couldn't help but root for him even when it was wrong too lol. Lots of love and light to his loved ones :(

Sorry to hear this! :( I’ve only sampled some old GH clips with Alan but he had such a presence in his scenes and was a great sparring partner with Jane Elliott!

He absolutely deserves at least a week!  He expertly played every side of Alan and seems like he was a great cast member bts too!

Between Stuart and Ray MacDonnell  I'm heartbroken today.  Two of daytime's finest.

GH lost a piece of it's soul when Alan died.  Rest in Peace

Interesting! Then I wonder who wanted Stuart Damon off the show. Did JFP think that killing off Alan would make for a ratings-boosting sweeps event? Or was this a Frons directive?
