1000% accurate.

Wasn it actually one of the reasons (making Thorne a sexier lead) Thorne was recast in the first place or did Trachta leave of his own accord and they just went that route for the recast?

I believe he was fired. I still remember all the picketing around the studios after that happened.

Clayton Norcross and Winsor Harmon both had chemistry with KKL.

I couldn't imagine Carrie Mitchum's Donna doing all the honey bear stuff with Eric, or cat fighting with Pam.

From what I remember the recast happened because Bradley was going to pair Thorne/Taylor but didn't think Jeff Trachta was handsome enough to be a romantic leading man opposite Hunter Tylo.

And, per Wiki, he was on the 12th season of America's Got Talent as...a singing Trump impersonator (and eliminated in the quarterfinals). Umm...yeah.

I think I will have nightmares tonight. 🤮 You really can't make this stuff up.

I hope @Frank2803 won't mind me reposting his comment from the Unpopular Opinion in this thread: I thought this was a really good for this thread too.

I couldn't imagine Erin Torpey handling the over the top campy material that Bree had to work with

It's not a knock on Erin, but her Jessica was a little more grounded

Yorlin Madera turned into a decent-looking man, but I can’t quite see him playing the stuff David Fumero played as Cristian. I don’t think Cristian would have stuck around as a utility romantic lead without DF.

Sometimes one actor embodies the young character, but a recast is needed to mature the role. But more often than not, soaps simply cast a more conventionally attractive actor for sexual/romantic purposes, à la Rachel Miner/Rebecca Budig as Michelle on GL. DF did make the character his own beyond showing off his assets, so I don’t want to denigrate him. He’ll be 50 next year, which makes me feel old.

He still looked great on Brooklyn Nine-Nine with his wife:

Speaking of the Horton women, I can't imagine Marci Miller's Abby having an affair with EJ or lying about sleeping with Austin.

I couldn’t imagine Ashley Benson’s Abby doing any of that either.

No, I couldn't see YM as a romantic lead either.
