Imagine how exciting this wedding would be if it was for a couple we all gave a [!@#$%^&*] about?

The thing about Ben/Ciara is that the audience does have strong feelings about them (unlike, say, Eli and Lani). It's just that about half those viewers are hate-watching Ben/Ciara. So I think this is a pretty brilliant way to handle such a divisive couple's wedding, because half of the audience will be rooting for the bomb.

Love them or hate them, they really provided a lot of buzz for the show. If they had been written better, I'd probably like them.

Agreed. The two actors have a lot of chemistry, but if the show wanted to present RSW as a romantic lead, they should have done a better job coming up with an excuse for his serial killer storyline. It could have been anything from a brain tumor to "Clyde brainwashed him," and it would have been better than the half-hearted "recovery" story we got.

Now Ciara just looks like a naive, deluded young woman who believes that her love has "redeemed" this violent, dangerous man. And if Days wanted to lean into the psychological realism of that, it would be an interesting story to tell. But they clearly have no interest in realism, instead selling Cin as a fairytale romance. And it doesn't really work--Ben's murders are just too close to reality for many viewers to suspend their disbelief and buy into the fairytale. Maybe if he'd been a vampire instead of a serial killer...

Honestly, I would've gone full-on retcon and just had his sister being the culprint and gaslighting him into believing he did it. Hence why she died in the time jump - he finally found out and oh-uh, did it push him over the edge?

Cheesy? Yes. Better than having a lead heroine marry a serial killer? Yes.

That's what they needed to do. Instead of forcing Ben down our throats and destroying countless characters in the process, they really need to take their time with him and Ciara, that way, after a while people would actually be rooting for them.

It worked for Bill the rapist and Jack the rapist, it also would have worked for Ben the serial killer.

As someone who's a month and a half behind in watching, it's nice to be confused with a lot of what's going on because it means SOMETHING has been happening... Can someone "spoil" me and tell me the Justin/Kayla/Steve junk is wrapped up and backburnered?

At the altar, Justin realized that Kayla still had feelings for Steve and told her he couldn’t marry her. Kayla then realized it too, and rushed to the airport to find Steve, who had accepted an undercover assignment with the ISA and was leaving Salem. At first she thought she was too late, but it turned out Steve didn’t get on the plane. They’re reunited now.

I just can't get behind this couple. The fact that everyone is so forgiving of a SERIAL KILLER is too much. Totally agree that if they just had to keep the character they needed to figure out a way that he wasn't the actual killer.

Great, thanks :) Sounds like their story cycle is complete until the next round of ubervillains terrorize Patch & Sweetness.
