Bernard was such a charismatic, warm presence, so lived-in and so fascinating to watch. He took Wilf and ran with him, never letting go. I was just watching some of Turn Left again to remember him. Such wonderful work with his eyes alone. He meant so much to so many people.

Wilf was such a touching character. He really did seem like everyone’s gramps. I didn’t get teary-eyed that much watching Doctor Who, but Bernard Cribbins could make me bawl. My thoughts just go to Catherine Tate right now.

@danfling first mentioned this in the AMC thread.

One of the most beautiful and quietly powerful actresses of all time, with a smile you'll never forget. If you haven't watched To Sleep With Anger, give it a try.

Nooo. I loved her. She had such a lovely voice. I knew her from A Different World, of course, but also I’l Fly Away and countless other roles.

That's also where I first saw Mary. She was  always so good...that voice alone. Such power dipped in honey.

Aw, I met her once. Very sweet lady in addition to her history making. We’ve lost two black icons today.

News story with further confirmation from her team:

I'm very sad about both but I am crushed about Nichelle...my father loved OG Star Trek and we watched all the movies, and eventually, the TOS repeats as well. Nichelle was just immensely charismatic and yet onscreen also had the most soothing presence - you felt like she was a good friend, but there was something always slightly withdrawn with her too, keeping you guessing. I know the movie was a dog but she's so much fun and mesmerizing in Star Trek 5. along with James Doohan the best part of that film.
