I guess this is the reverse since he stunk up (and still is stinking up) the show he was originally on but for some reason Steve Burton was the first person to come to mind. I think he's absolutely horrendous on GH but on Y&R, even though the character was a disaster, he was surprisingly good playing a good, moral character. I found Dylan losing Christian and then exiting the show not long after to be very effective largely due to his acting.

Another reversal, Cadie McClain was great as Dixie in her first two runs, then she did ATWT and positively soared. She just killed it as Rosanna. Then she came back to AMC and very VERY clearly did not want to be there, her acting became a real drag and mannered.

I'd have to say Marcy Rylan and Jeff Branson their time on GL must have just been a real flash in the pan as they were awful on Y&R. Then again, so were a lot of actors picked up from cancelled soaps that ended up being terribly miscast on Y&R from 2009-2012 as they didn't fit in. Let's not even talk about Stephen Nichols or Maura West. Speaking of Cady McClain, I loved her as Roseanna but her as recast Kelly on Y&R was horrible, especially after the work Watros had put into the character.

Robert Kelker-Kelly is another one that comes to mind for his second AW stint. And I loved Ameila Marshall on GL but she was especially really awful on Passions, even for Passions standards from what I saw.

Was Brian Gaskill ever any good at any soap? I never knew why he was a hot commodity for CBS in the mid-00's.

It’s funny. Claudia was pretty poorly written too, but she somehow made that work IMO. It just happened to also be on GH.

I’d also say Beth Ehlers, but by the time she did AMC, she had also become nearly unwatchable as Harley on GL.

Probably both.  And she wasn't given great material, but she certainly didn't rise above it.  I would have bet she would have been a star after GH, and I know there were personal factors that she had to deal with.  But she was never as good as she was as Carly.  I do think she was okay as Claudia on GH.

I think she was just given awful material everywhere else. I never found myself thinking Sarah was the issue. She was always very engaged and alive to me, but they wrote her characters so poorly. I loved Claudia until they had her fall for Sonny’s peen as they did any female not named Faith.

I honestly didn’t hate Dylan. I know the retcon was pretty stupid along with Sharon dating yet another member of Nick and Nikki’s family, but Burton did a nice job not playing Jason 2.0. It was sad that he decided he’d rather get paid to not emote and not grow so he could go back to GH.

    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol

You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.

    • I have to check out his Bela Garody on Search for tomorrow. He was one of the main reasons EON worked for me when I was watching. Truly unforgettable presence. Handsome in the most perverse and sinister way. They don't make faces like that anymore.
    • My favorite moment in SOAPDISH is the HW taking the star to the mall in NJ to improve "morale"!!
    • Oh no! The shoulder pads! I will mourn them when they're gone. Please tell me the head pieces and hats remained!?
    • Shout! TV has now added season 26. Not sure what the reasoning for that was, but maybe it was the one that was ready to go...
    • It's AWFULLY hard to tell.  But out of the (approximately) 16 weeks so far in 2025, Bryton has only had about 12 episodes.  That's significantly less than 1 per week.  Once the actor drops down to less than 1 per week for an extended period of time (such as a 39-week cycle), I start thinking there's no contract in place for him or her.  Surely these folks aren't tying themselves down to a show for a guarantee of 1 or 2 episodes a month.   If I counted right, Bryton has had 21 episodes in the past 24 weeks.  They're either (a) about to kick into high-gear & work his ass off to meet his minimum guaranteed appearances, or else (b) he ain't got a contract that guarantees him squat.
