(speaking of this, I have a feeling the White House and their usual enablers at the NYT put out exaggerated daily death totals [2-3K a day]) so that when it's bad, but not that bad, the media will say "well it could have been worse," and many will nod along)

I haven't eaten beef or pork in over 20 years and I try to eat more fish than chicken or turkey. When I first heard about possible infections (it had yet to be confirmed), I vowed not to buy anymore chicken or ground turkey.  I've been stocking up on beans, rice, etc. because it's going to be homemade veggie burgers this spring/summer. May as well put that food processor to use.

That's great. I bet you are healthier for it.  I don't eat pork either.  I doubt I could get my husband to give up beef forever, but he's onboard with eating much less meat due to these workers being all but forced to risk themselves.  Eating more beans, nuts and fish for a few months will be a good change. I have nothing but time to work on new recipes these days anyway. I've even started a few tiny gardening projects.

Things are getting crazier by the day.  Clerks getting shot or assaulted for asking people to wear masks. Then this idiot wearing a Klan hood. I wish someone had beaten his sorry ass. #sorrynotsorry.  At the same time I do feel sorry for the store employees. They did try to stop him, but having to confront people like this seems above the pay grade of retail workers. $12 bucks an hour and risking covid19 to deal with these violent freaks.

Gardening sounds great. Last year, I had a modest crop of kale, peppers and tiny tomatoes (lol) but it won't be happening this year as the weather was not cooperating.  Also, the circle of friends who usually bring freshly grown greens and other items won't be coming around for obvious reasons. What's weird is that there seems to be more leafy greens than ever at the supermarket.  I think many shoppers may be going more for the dried goods and non-perishable items.

Interesting quote from an article that I am reading about the "New Hot Spots" that are emerging in the U.S.  Even though this was expected, it is still interesting to see how this is unfolding.

    • I think Dani cares about her sister, but I agree with you. She's using this whole mess to be heard and make herself feel better. I wish Ted and Eva told her to fck off. I had to laugh when Dani commented on her and Anita confronting Ted. She acted as if they destroyed him. That's not what I saw. Dani has been dialed back from those first weeks, but I can't say she's likable. As long as she's throwing shade at Eva for her work as a hairstylist -- while ignoring that she did nothing except eat celery sticks and walk the runway -- she can kiss off. Barely tolerable, and Lindstrom is terrible in the role. I don't find him scary at all, and his money laundering plan is stupid as hell. I gagged when he texted Vanessa to ask if she was thinking about him. That's throw up time.   I just don't see how that makes Ashley any more interesting. And are we really asking for another storyline where a father connects with his adult daughter? I know there's no direct parallel to Eva's story, but come on. If you're in the minority, I'll join you. I have zero interest in any of that. -- I still fail to see Nicole and Vanessa as best friends. Nicole is grounded and stable and responsible, and Vanessa is not. It made more sense to have Dani and Vanessa being close. -- Ashley and Derek were actually OK today. I feel sorry for the actors, honestly, because they've been given nothing. It's crazy, because so much of the rest of the show is firing on all cylinders.
    • Same. But given how the writers like to have her have good moments and bad moments...and Dani has been background as of late...it's about time she had some bad moments.
    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
    • And it will also eventually air S2, which will air its finale in Canada this Thursday, May 15th! https://tvline.com/news/law-and-order-toronto-criminal-intent-season-1-2-the-cw-1235449356/ As an American that has managed to watch it in real time, it's very good. Frankly, I think it's the best of the L&O franchise as of now.
    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
