Speaking of those stimulus checks, I hear Sen. Lindsey Graham and Mark Meadows are doing their damnedest to persuade Donald Trump to quash the idea.  True?

It seems like some of the Republicans want to do different things. There is a report that said that Lindsey and Mark was trying to get the president not to do these payments. And then Lindsey came out and said that he was willing to pay up to 75% of people's income going up to $80,000. Mitt Romney was in support of one $1,000 check and said he was trying to work on some type of compromise with Lindsey to convert funding for the second check into more unemployment benefits.

Another republican senator was saying that the GOP was considering making payments for individuals who make under $95,000 a year and couples who make under $190,000. And there are some who just say they want to give people cash payments in general. Here is an article mentioning these things:

I like the two payments of $1,000 for all adult americans. and $500 dollars for each child. It's simple and won't take as much time as other plans would. A lot of people are going to need money quickly especially as more and more businesses are shutting down and people are losing their jobs.

Oh, they've got to be kidding.  They don't want the drive-through testing because it's "too close to home"?  The F?

I am so fed up with selfish, entitled a-holes, who are more concerned about being a little bit inconvenienced than they are about possibly being exposed, or having their loved ones become exposed, and possibly dying from a virus that shows zero signs of slowing down.  And they have the nerve to call liberals like me "snowflakes"?

God knows, I wouldn't wish the coronavirus on anyone; but maybe if more were genuinely threatened by this outbreak -- if more people actually tested positive for this thing and their bodies suffered hellaciously as a result -- maybe, it would finally sink into these idiots' heads that this is NOT just a little tickle in the back of the throat that we're dealing with here.

Richard Marx stays "right here waiting" for more competent leadership.  (And no, he won't give up until he's satisfied.)

Graham has been beating the drum about this for a week now. It's one of the reasons I don't believe anything will happen, or if it does, it will be watered down and only big business will benefit. If it weren't an election year it definitely wouldn't be happening.

Graham is the ultimate piece of [!@#$%^&*]. Sadly the only people I know in SC who are against him or Trump are very elderly and likely aren't going to be voting as they have a ton of other things they're going through. I just hope there is a surprise in November (a good one, I should say).

His opponent is Jaime Harrison.

This will get worse for him, bc he can't tolerate the daily pressure of the briefings without constant adulation and his staff never satisfy him vs. the public. He's crumbling mentally.

Apologies for Haberman:

My first known social contact is infected - a young family friend, a student in Germany with asthma. He's quarantined away from his family, and was already concerned bc his grandfather has COPD. I'm trying to comfort people where I can. I used to be glad my grandparents didn't live to see Trump or the return of overt antisemitism and Nazism, complete with that mass shooting at the PA synagogue ten mins from their home a few years ago. Now, knowing they lived through WWII, the Depression and in Grandpa's case Spanish flu, I wish we had their wisdom - and faith - to lean on.

    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
