I think that I've been on this board long enough to understand why the name Amanda Beall would be an issue in a Co-Writer position.

And if she is the one responsible for 'What Women Want' on AMC...yeeeeah, I am going to have worries as well. Though I will admit for trivial reasons I liked the non-liked brother of the brothers they tried to pair Greenlee with.

I always associate Amanda L Beall with Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) and her snarky, unfunny dialogue. Chloe was like her muse. I remember when Chloe told Billy (then played by Billy Miller) that she was pregnant, Billy didn't believe he was the father, and Chloe snarked "You wanna check my monthly cycle?" Back in 2008, this was considered daring and ground-breaking.

If you ever watched Hendrickson (and Eden Reigel who Beall also wrote for on AMC), that should tell you all you need to know. The nasal, baby voices, the vocal fry. Snappy, soulless dialogue talking about nothing at all. Excruciating.

I was sad to see Trey go cuz yeah he was hot.

The brothers. I want to say his name was Maximillion while his annoying brother was the Juan Pablo guy. It's been a while.

Ewwwww...that explains why I didn't like that dialogue perfectly. I think the only thing I've liked Chloe is when she first came on Y&R and was a vixen, love to hate during the Billy/Mac thing due to loving Billy/Mac, and her exit when Chelsea realized she 'killed' Adam. Otherwise, no.

Yeeeeah. It really was a weird time.

But yeah, Max was pushed hardcore from what I remember to be with Greenlee. Then Juan got introduced and Max that pushed to Simone if I remember correctly and the background until he was killed off. But I was young then and had no use for Juan, but didn't mind Max.

I got you. In the 2000s, the soap press had such a low bar for what was considered quality. They had such a low opinion of soaps as a genre and saw any pale imitation of what was popping elsewhere (or popped in the ‘90s) as genius. (Except soaps usually took the superficial stuff like the silly banter instead of dynamics like intergenerational family bonds and real friendships.)

Brent Boyd used to be a script editor (?) on the show. He used to be where Sara Bibel is now in the credits, but I can’t remember who brought him in. Quite hard to gauge his quality as he didn’t write scripts like he did for Monday’s show.

Prior to joining Y&R first time around, I think he was a playwright?

Basically, I’m not a fount of knowledge

He worked with Josh Griffith and JFP on Hollywood Heights and they brought him over with them when they joined in 2012. He left or was fired by Mal in 2017.

I guess it’s safe to say he’s a friend of Griffith’s boring ass.

He Tweeted about leaving the show in 2017.

    • I absolutely loved the last few episodes—devoured them! If Trisha and Ambyr’s performances aren’t Emmy-worthy, I don’t know what is. I wasn’t bothered by the lawyer girl not being at the gala from the start, or the grandkids being absent, or Vanessa being MIA. It just goes to show how unnecessarily huge the Dupree family is. And like Toups said, you can’t cram the entire cast into a single episode. Oh and the cue when Leslie was having that fantasy was epic, very DAYS-like. They should keep it and develop it   Minor nitpicks: Yeah, Ted seriously needs a recast—been saying that since day one. I still don’t know where he stands, and he just comes off as a generic nice guy. Not having Ted and Bill share a single scene since the show started? Huge missed opportunity. And not having Leslie get anywhere near Bill in one of her wigs? Another big miss. It really weakened the impact of her big reveal about Bill’s involvement. Now it just feels a bit like fan fiction. I’m totally confused by Vanessa and Doug’s “arrangement.” One moment it seems like they’re in an open relationship, and the next Vanessa acts completely shocked when Doug so much as hints at her “distractions.” Huh? Can anyone explain what’s going on there?
    • You’d think he would’ve learned after the way Sprina took off.  I hope we get a proper Emma/Gio/Trina/Kai quad, as friends, romantic rivals, etc. In the few scenes that the four of them have had together, I felt like there was a natural chemistry between all of them, similar to the way that Cam/Spencer/Trina/Joss was, in the beginning.  And, it would be a lot better than all this stuff with Kai’s surgery.
    • Hooray we made the exact same critique to Londonscribe!!!!!
    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
