More from Jake Sherman, who despises Democrats and is Politico born and bred:

I only fitfully agree with Hayes in this day and age, but this has always been correct. The modern media considers America center-right because they view themselves as innately out of touch; they were trained by the Reagan era to believe 'real America' is always out there in the diners (hence the Trump voter love affair) and never anywhere else. They disdain Democrats and progressives because they have been conditioned to believe they themselves are effete and not genuine, and therefore so is anyone not on the right. They project this onto Democrats so as to divorce it from themselves, and focus all their energies on Trump/GOP voters instead. This is a belief a lot of the party rank and file also still lives with as PTSD since the 1980s.

This is why every time Obama or the Dems won handily in the last 15 years, the press would go on TV saying "it's not a mandate" and basically imply he got lucky. Any time Dems win it is about some sort of amazing trick that only happens once in a lifetime; the economy, the pandemic, etc. They will always attribute any Democratic wins to outside circumstances and imply it is a fluke. Whereas the GOP are always brilliant strategy mavens.

It's already started with Biden - Amy Walter of National Journal was saying last month that he has no mandate if he wins. The saddest part is Biden is so proud of the Beltway/DC tradition that he believes every word. It's one of the reasons why I'm not surprised so many have given up on voting, even though I wish they still would.

Boehner was always a waste of space - he was just better at gladhanding. The only reason any press dislike Trump, any at all, is because he doesn't kiss their asses the way McCain and that ilk did. Nothing will improve in this country until the current DC press circuit is marginalized.

I think he may not as much after the last year, but before that, based on his comments over the years...but anyway, hopefully he doesn't now. Not that it really matters if Democrats don't win the Senate. I guess we'll see. I can't let myself think about that after 2016.

Given that the Pod Save America guys spent years seeing President Obama, his wife and children face a constant barrage of racist bile, I'm not sure how they are still this naive. None of these hatemongers are stunned into silence. They were like this before Trump and they will be after he's gone. If their fuhrer told them to get their guns and start picking out targets, they would - if their fat fingers could fit around the triggers, anyway.

    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
    • I shared this on Twitter and good grief the comments. Steffy fans can be such vile real-life human beings over a fictional character lol.
    • I remember Michael Logan interviewed L.A. actors/production staff about the movie. Susan Seaforth Hayes said she was dying to know Susan Lucci's reaction.
    • Thanks @Franko  @slick jones You may be interested in the Elisabeth Shue mention. I have to laugh that they apparently didn't even know Teri Hatcher was on Capitol. I have scans somewhere of SPW talking with soap actors about Soapdish. Some, like Mary Stuart, were not happy. I never had a lot of interest in the movie myself.
    • I never had much of a problem with Brandon Claybon's performance as Martin. He has gotten much better though. While I enjoy his confrontational scenes, I must say his lighter, and carefree scenes from Thursday's episode are the ones that stood out most in the last 3 days (to me).   I agree with all of this!
    • I know that Secret Storm had moved back to the 4/3 PM timeslot in the final months on air, so it's possible that they were trying to employ new techniques/elements to lure the teen demographic.   If that episode was around November/December 1973, I do wonder if the owners (AHS) were still trying to shop the show to other networks still.. or if they had accepted that the show was going to officially go off the air in Feb 1974 at the time of this episode airing.
    • Jordan should have been killed or written out a decade ago.
    • Xander kidnapped her a few times when she was a baby I much prefer this bitchy version of Rafe to the dull one we have had for the past few years. Leo would get on my last nerve too and I would probably have snapped by now too. Loved Roman and Doug3. My favourite scenes today. Much better than his forced kindness to Ava. About time somebody pointed out Sophia is an adult any minute and can decide her own life. This is not Handmaid's Tale. I bet Mrs Choi snatches that baby though if Sophia signs it over to 'strangers'
