"Designing Women" reboot in the works

Recommended Posts

I got very upset about this, mostly because of Dixie Carter. I told myself that it was silly, given the real problems in the world today, but...it still feels wrong to me.

ICAM.  On the one hand, I've accepted that the reboot/revival trend is here for the time being and that we all have to ride it out. But, OTOH, Dixie Carter is Julia Sugarbaker, and Julia Sugarbaker is "Designing Women."  You just can't separate the two.  Ever.

Of course, there's nothing that says LBH won't create all-new characters, played by an all-new cast.  However, even under those circumstances, having a reboot of this particular series w/o its' most iconic actress/character involved will not succeed.

It would be almost like rebooting "Murphy Brown" w/o Candice Bergen, or "The Golden Girls" w/o Bea Arthur.

Maybe it could involve one of Julia Sugarbakers grand kids perhaps?  The show has been off the air for 25 years so it could be possible that she had a grand-daughter that inherited her late grandmother's design firm and trying to update it for the 21st century.. and there could be cameos by the surviving three women including Auntie Suzanne?

When the shows stop getting ratings. I agree it's awful and has gone way too far, but once Roseanne was a huge hit I knew the lemmings in Hollywood would reboot every show ever made.

Which means: get ready, folks, for "The NEW Benson" and "The NEW Gimme a Break!".

Different Strokes?  These are shows that obviously should not be remade, but it would not surprise me one bit.

Now I wouldn't mind something with SBTB IF the original cast is involved. Maybe something with Zack and Kelly's son getting in deep doo doo like Zack always did or something lol

You think that'd be terrible?  Just imagine who'd they land for a "Silver Spoons" reboot! ;)

I doubt Screech would return....the actor pretty much doo doo on the whole cast.
