I think it was 2002 when they first said on air that GL's Springfield was in Illinois (during Rick & Mel's wedding?), and later during the Weston era of 2003-2004, they not only confirmed Illinois multiple times but at one point, Ross even mentioned how they live in the state's capital city. To me, that made no sense and was a definite rewrite of the current powers-that-be. It would've made more sense to establish Springfield in Michigan, with 3/4ths of it surrounded by Great Lakes. Speaking of, I think at one point prior to 2002 they mentioned Springfield being on the coast of a Great Lake.

Does anyone else remember some risque photos of Teddy Sears (and possibly a couple of others from his time on OLTL) that made some noise back in the day?  I think they were maybe even taken by one of their OLTL costars.

I googled and didn’t see anything, but I’m almost positive this happened.

It was Nathan Purdee (Hank Gannon), who was a photographer. He did a risque shoot with Sears, Shanelle Workman (Flash/Sarah Roberts), Amber Ryan (Emily MacIver) and others. It was a minor scandal at the time. I don't think it was what led to Purdee's departure, but puritanical soap fans did react.

OK...

Pam Long herself mentioned that in her 2009 podcast interview on Brandon's Buzz. She said that the guy who threw up was either someone from P&G or CBS. Pam and KZ got into a shouting match over the direction Reva was going in. It was nothing personal, it was just about the story. Apparently, their arguing made the poor guy so nervous that he tossed his cookies right then and there. No word if anyone lost their appetites after that, as they were at a business lunch.

That is hilarious. If you can ever find the article, or at least the exact quote, please post it here.

After the gay kiss scenes featuring "Kish" were broadcast on OLTL, one hyperventilating critic on a message board raged that she did not want to see "hard-core homosexual pornography" on her "clean" show.

Hard-core gay pornography?????

I was soooooo tempted to send her links to some REAL porn, for comparison, but I refrained.

Oh yes, trying to get into any soap from scratch starting post-2010 would be hard. I prefer to go back to the good ol' days, before the decline.
    • Can we talk about how iconic the 1994 tornado was on AMC? I was scanning through old episodes last night and came across this episode. The tornado was epic and the storylines/aftermath were so good (Julia's scar/Noah!; Jenny/Ray/Nola/Jesse in heaven with Tad, etc).  For 1994, these special effects and budget for this big event were amazing. 10 out of 10!  The only thing missing is Erica!  I can't recall where Erica was at the time, but I really wish she had been involved in this storyline.

    • On the way to her own engagement party? I've read that the show had trouble getting the audience to sympathize with Rita, but...that seems bizarre. Maybe I can understand the issue with the censors, given that at the time, rape wasn't depicted the way it is now, and marital rape was even less acknowledged.  Wasn't Chris Brooks' rape one of the first honest stories on the subject? I just don't think I could get into a show I didn't have a working knowledge of. I know it's a different era, but I really tried to get into GH once Maura West joined, but it just never jelled.
    • Yes it was! My mom and I convinced my dad to get one. He was--how shall I put this?--on the thrifty side, but one day he came home with one as a surprise. To this day, I'm convinced it fell off a truck. (He knew people with "connections."

) BUT, we had our VCR and we could watch our soaps. That thing lasted forever! It was built like a tank. Even when we got new ones with more features, we kept that one.

Blasphemy!  (Haha, I get it.  But, you should try watching AMC! 80s-90s was so good.)
    • I thought about saying how I resented the fact that those two newbies were tripping up the Puppetmaster of all Puppetmasters, when the best others could do was a stalemate (or less...). But, well...*sigh*
    • I read years ago that both Zaslow and Lenore both complained that it came off as a seduction because of CBS censors, so Lenore asked if she could say, "you raped me" to leave no doubt with the audience, and that Zaslow insisted that Holly's rape played realistically
    • Wow it’s official, Gatwa is out… https://www.avclub.com/ncuti-gatwa-addresses-doctor-who-finale-statement DW fandom on Reddit is in a furor over how things went down and apparent last minute scrapping of the original ending. Also…Billie Piper again really?
    • He comes pretty close, talkin' about how Reva is full of love and joy, blah blah....which is bilge considering he was the one responsible for throwing her out of Josh's life over working with Alan.
    • Just watched the episode concerning Olivia's drug use and Abby's persistence, etc. Donna Mills did stellar work in this episode, as did Tonya Crowe and Brian Austin Green (Brian).
