Forget about recasting with a "Vanessa Williams type."  GET. VANESSA. WILLIAMS.  And not the one who most recently played Valerie on DAYS either!  If Jamey wants to save his damn show, then he needs to step it up with the casting AND with the writing!

Now wait lol, I feel Valerie/Soul Food Vanessa Williams is a waaaaay better actor than the other, but I do agree former popstar Vanessa Williams would've elevated the role and brought them more viewers. So many people could've easily played the role tbh. I just don't get how they settled on Robin Givens.

Lol I love reading this thread back. Even though I’m still extremely bitter towards Jamey and all the sh!t he used to talk on AMC (like I still get heated thinking bout it), he seemed to work extremely hard for this and I hope they get to continue on another cycle at least w/some more help

But, she's worth every penny -- in star power, if not in skill set.  So, I say, make the necessary cuts -- surely, "Ambitions" has a few cast members they could jettison -- and do it.

Exactly.  I'm not saying she's the Black Meryl Streep.  I'm saying she's an actress who could, under the right circumstances, bring more "eyeballs" to a struggling show like "Ambitions."  Her cache, if you will, among urban audiences is way higher than Robin Givens'.

Maybe Vivica A. Fox?

Michele Val Jean seems pressed that Ambitions isn't getting the same type of acknowledgement for having an all-black writers room that Tia Mowry's show on Netflix is getting/got.

Though I have great respect for her as a soap opera writer, it's crap like this that pisses me off about people who claim to fight for diversity and inclusion. This shouldn't be a damn contest - if one of your big gripes is not getting the same attention for something we have so little of and need more of, then you're not fighting for any type of cause [other than yourself] at all.

Wait, you mean a room full of Black writers came up with dialogue that terrible?

On second thought, maybe there SHOULD be more inclusiveness in writers' rooms.

Maybe because I watched a trailer from a movie that was embedded on the ShadowandAct blog but a few OWN shows appeared on the YouTube page and I noticed that Ambitions was on there.  It doesn't make sense for me to watch those episodes since I don't get OWN but I went to the social media page and saw that Rick Hearst is supposed to be on an upcoming episode.

Also, some people were lobbying for Sonia Satra to appear on the show, lol.  Strange, I'd have thought that people would be suggesting Amelia Marshall since so many have claimed Gilly and Alan-Michael not being paired was a disappointment.

Rick Hearts was on tonight's show and right now Ambitions is the 2nd highest trend on Twitter. This is the highest the show has ever trended even higher than during the mid-season finale that is had a while ago. (Where a lot of big stuff happened that got people talking). It looks like a lot of people are enjoying/talking about tonight's episode.

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.

    • I was incredibly moved by these scenes, especially Peter's performance. It felt so tender and real, especially when you remember Bo just got out of a years-long coma and wasn't going to be able to put up a front. You're reminded of how long these legends have populated the show when you have a 70 year old man grieving men who were almost 90 or 100, but Bo's response to Victor's death was a poignant reminder of how fresh these wounds are no matter your age. Normally these types of moments don't even make it in soap episodes in recent decades as they are seen as too boring. The more somber moments being balanced by Bo meeting his grandchildren was also lovely.  And the scene where Bo forgave Shawn may be the only time I've been in lock with Brandon Beemer's take on the part.  There's a certain element of suffocation with soaps, as shown here, when you remember so many of the kids are named after long dead relatives, or when they grew up, were paired with the kids of other longtime characters. That aspect always makes me yearn for new blood (new blood that doesn't suck, anyway), but there are other moments, like those with Bo, which make me appreciate all the history the show has.
    • A funny scene, Roger and Sonni go out to eat, at that place that had a colonial theme (I love when soaps have very specific places to eat..I hated the diners on GL, ATWT and AW) and this is just after Rog came back and Sonni hit the headlines and the waitress scremes.."Oh, Roger Thorpe, and YOUR...please dont' hurt me..." and they are all like, "Hey, were just hungry!" (most soaps now have someone go on a murder spree and the rest of the cast and extras look like they havent heard about it."
