Yes, NBC had hoped MK would bring Faux News fans to their network.  However, at the same time NBC News was busy trying to make her happen, Faux News and even the president were warning their audiences not to trust mainstream media outlets...such as NBC.

Subsequently, hiring MK away from Faux proved to be an expensive ($69 million) folly, which Lack (IMO) would be wise to end, and end now.

Seriously, why are we still negotiating how to handle this, Andy?  She's become an embarrassment AND a liability to your operation, much like Matt Lauer.  Pay off the remainder of her contract and Let. Her. Go.

The truth is, MK, and FNC, appeal strictly to an older, white, conservative viewership that's growing older, whiter and more conservative by the minute.  Believing that she would ever be able to attract and retain a significant portion of the desired 18-34 female demographic was horrendously short-sighted on Lack's, and NBC's, part.

But, more than that, the major media outlets need to look at MK's fall on NBC as a warning: courting these conservative-leaning "journalists" and other personalities as a way of bringing Trump's base under their tent will never end well.  Sooner or later, these individuals always cause their own undoings, simply because they don't know how to get out of their own, outdated, narrow-minded ways.  Subsequently, their inability to recognize and curb their basest, most self-destructive instincts turns them into little more than expensive damaged goods, which their bosses will have to pay through their respective and collective noses to dump.

Honestly, just let the MK's of today go back to their Faux News and fringe websites where they belong.

ITA with this.   I also echo all the posts that stated that NBC hoped to catch some stray FauxNews viewers, especially the alleged disaffected white female viewer who they believed would follow MK out the door leading to NBC.  It seems that those viewers stayed with FauxNews or not but they certainly did not follow MK to NBC.

Now it looks as though NBC better be prepared to pay through the nose to shake off MK.

Kelly was part of a push by Andrew Lack to get right wing voices out in the open on NBC and MSNBC. He was also pushing to replace most of the liberal shows on MSNBC with the likes of Hugh Hewitt, and supposedly resented that they were popular.

I'm just sorry that she's likely become a martyr, which is unearned.

    • Above, I said "Vanessa needs to go to therapy to find ways to remain healthfully lusty and sex-positive, but to stay away from anyone who would demean her." Now adding onto that thought, I would clarify that sometimes I think Vanessa fools around for fun in a positive way.    But other times I sense that she's actually unconsciously trying to demean herself as way of numbing some inner pain -- it's hard to explain what I mean.  Sort of like... sometimes people drink for fun. But other times, people drink  in a self-destructive way, in order to drown out some inner pain. So I think she needs therapy about all of that.
    • A lot of these episodes are available on YT. The rape storyline starts around February or March of 1979 and Roger's demise is sometime in March 1980. The stuff from before 1979 is close to non exisitent, unfortunately.
    • Maeve Kinkead was on from 1980-1988 (left in January); 1989-2000 (went recurring 1996-97); 2002 -For Josh /Reva's Wedding; 2005 (appearances in May and December) back regularly from Feb 2006-end Maureen Garrett was on from 1976-80; 1988-2006 (recurring from 2003 on); 2009 Michael Zaslow was on/off from 1971-1980 with breaks in between but usually made an appearance every year then again 1989-1997. There is a youtube commercial  Guiding Light in 1968

    • Holly's final big story was the Sebastian mess in late 2004.   Vanessa and Matt were promoted to regulars near the end and were heavily recurring prior to that starting around 2007/2008.
    • Keith has a softer presence, but it would have helped to see him be more aggressive or proactive in protecting them instead of standing around like a mannequin. A man the audience should be hoping and wishing gets back together with his wife. Nicole needs a new husband!
    • She needs to learn to be honest with her husband about her lusty interests because being sex positive only works if you're not cheating on your spouse.

    • Very disappointed in the writers in the way they are screwing with Nicole, Ted,  and Kat to make Leslie remain viable. So many holes everywhere.
    • Somebody brought this up elsewhere which emphasizes why this NuTed appears as such a weakling. Why is Kat doing what HE should be doing? And that's everything he can to rid him and his family of this crazy woman. Kat is doing all kinds of things she shouldn't do but now I understand her more. She can't count on her father to eliminate this woman because he's a wimp. He's been too busy inviting her into his home and serving her drinks and offering her invitations to birthday parties. WIMP!!!!
