A couple of phone related pet peeves and probably just nitpicky on my part:

- People rarely say goodbye. They just seem to hang up, usually abruptly. It was more dramatic in the days of flip phones.

- I've noticed this a lot on Y&R, when talking on their (presumably) iPhones, you see them on the home screen without an active call.

- Showing the text message on the screen in a speech bubble rather than just doing a close-up of the phone. Remember when Victor sent Hillary a thumbs up after she aired the parkade footage? I really liked that.

Did any one of those female characters have a rape as brutally depicted as Eden Capwell's rape?

BTW, a female Facebook friend of mine believes that more male characters on Santa Barbara should've been held accountable for their actions.  She would have liked for Dr. Zach Kelton to go on trial for Eden's rape.  Also, the friend would have liked for Peter Flint to go on trial for his crimes.  She feels that even relatively good characters such as Cruz Castillo and Cain Garver should've been held accountable for their actions.

Nobody ever watches TV, unless it's for a plot point and then some big ass TV will be oddly positioned on  the set for that purpose.

It would be much more natural to have a character watching TV (some generic background voice/music) and then hit mute/off when the phone call/visitor arrives.

Me, too. Lucinda Walsh was very good at that. I also remember a few instances of Nikki doing that at the ranch during the early 1990s on Y&R.

I was watching some 1980s ATWT clips the other day and it made me chuckle watching someone dial with a rotary phone. But they dialed the full number!

It was before my time, but AW's Iris (Beverlee McKinsey) would rotary dial with a pen as not to ruin her manicure.  Someone once shared a memory of a scene where she dialed the operator asking to be connected to a character in St. Tropez.  The operator reminded Iris that she could direct dial to which she replied, "Then what are you there for?"

B&B is horrible for this.  People not only walk into other people's houses but go to their bedrooms.  When Sheila returned she just helped herself to Katie's house and when the police questioned her.....LOLLLLLL Katie said....well, I guess my door was unlocked, so.   So your door is unlocked so that means anyone can just come and go?  B&B is also awful for flashbacks.  They have a scene and literally the VERY NEXT SCENE will flashback to what just happened 3 minutes before.  And then they'll do IT AGAIN.  It's god awful.  They don't even wait until the next SHOW.  The flashback the next SCENE.

    • As another gay woman, I'm interested in what you may be thinking. Does it have to do with Chelsea's newly found interest in a WLW pairing? Or is it about something else?
    • this applies to so many characters through the years, LOL
    • What a terrible opening scene. It was definitely not what we needed after such a great episode yesterday. Luckily, the following scenes were much better. And Doug III and Johnny looked hot

I’m glad that John wasn’t completely forgotten about today though. The children got to absorb the news about him yesterday but today, it was the grandchildren’s turn. I would’ve liked to have seen Tate, and Johnny go see John, but I enjoyed Johnny and Chanel comforting him after his visit, even though the acting was a little… ehhh. And Johnny’s speech to Chanel about John was a bit of a tearjerker. I’m so glad that they’ve decided to name one of their future kids after John. And I like how happy the two of them are, but I’m looking forward to the next conflict, especially with EJ’s shooting still lingering.  But yeah, it also appears that Gabi has a lot to learn about her daughter. I liked how Arianna hinted that Gabi wasn’t around all that much when she was growing up because that is completely a fact lol and it could play into their storyline in the future. And I really hope that Arianna

Speaking of Arianna, she and Doug III were kind of sweet together. I don’t mind them going at it so quickly but I still think we should have seen more scenes with them last week. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens for the two of them, and for Tate/Holly, etc. Btw, Doug III is so broke, yet he was able to pay for a room at the Salem Inn And yeah, Paul/Andrew >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Javi/Leo
    •  Lookin’ better than a body has a right to
    • If it's really that good I'll have to check it out. Where to start? I won't know who half these kids are, Higley and co. added way too many.
    • Right.  The reason we get Y&R a day ahead and have for ages (and I think at one time did with DAYS too?) has something to do with the fact that it airs very late afternoon (it used to be 5pm where I live but now is 4pm) so at some point because it aired after the US air time--or so I was explained--that would default to the next episode.  Or something. At any rate, this isn't the situation here.
    • She looks fabulous. Nothing close to that.
    • Testament had a unique financial situation. It was originally intended as an American Playhouse production for PBS, then Paramount decided to release it as a film (and then it did eventually air on PBS before the pay channels). The problem was, the cast didn't get any extra money because of this. So, yeah, I can understand why Devane had his mind on his money and his money on his mind.
    • Gosh, you're right, I mixed up nurse and doctor, my bad

Ok yes, the "My Guiding Light" music is so good. I do go back and forth with the overall opening though, as it comes across as a sitcom to me, which I get would have been popular in that era. And honestly not something I was used to seeing on the ABC soaps that I watched in my youth, so it's different. I know Another World has a similar style opening with a great theme song and similar video clips in their opening.  ATWT - ok yep, so it was that late. It's so hard to believe that show didn't have a more updated opening in the 90s. I think their first character opening was originally yellow-toned, but then went to a blue hue shortly after, which was much better. The opening that debuted when I was watching regularly in ~2007 was awful, I don't know what they were thinking with that one. BTG is ok, I'm just thankful it's slower with the cast graphics. The GH opening from the past ~10 years is seizure-inducing with how fast and furious it is. Y&R has always been and hopefully will always be iconic. Not that I watch the show, but I try and keep up with the openings across the board because I'm just obsessed with TV show openings, especially soaps haha.
    • Thanks. I wonder if Lisanti tried to get in contact with her about the book. She would have had interesting perspective.
