Jamey has stated ABC is very happy with GH and no plans to cancel at all. They love Shelly Altman shes a super gem. I think Chris Van Etten will be cool with Shelly. I love its being pointed out this is Shellys show and she has earned it bigtime

Stop. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Still pretending Giddens has credibility?  it's been proven over the past few years that ABC would love to dump GH.  How many replacements have they tried, about 3 or 4?

Heh. Yeah they'd probably like to dump the show but they haven't tried any replacement in years. And there's nothing on the docket. It's not in jeopardy at the moment, but to be fair, ABC could cancel the show anytime it wants.

Jamey did say that about GH. He said ABC has a female executive that Loves the show and has been backing it.

He didnt say [!@#$%^&*] about Shelly or her being safe.

I still say CVE will be full HW in 6 months or so

I really wish I could get Guza back just to do one of his stunts like the Metro Court disaster to kill off alot of useless characters.

That's the thing about Guza, he had great talent for writing but events. He just needed a co-HW for the more character driven emotional stuff. A sort of checks and balances system. His show was certainly never boring as hell though.

See I found as his run was winding down it was boring between his events.  I tuned out for weeks, then months at a time and found the characters were often stalled waiting for a sweeps stunt when I came back.

The best part of Riche and Guza was she did balance him out.  She did try to protect the legacy of the show.  They famously did not get along, but I also can't imagine her killing off so many characters just to give one of his events weight.

I agreed with her leaving, but Guza with JFP brought out a lot of the worst aspects of his work and little of the good.

I did love the Metro Court story, and the bio-toxin.  Didn't love killing Alan, but at that point Guza had so destroyed Tony I didn't miss him.  And the train crash, that one was fun too.  The others were more miss than hit for me.

U all should realize we are about to take off on the Shelly Altman Spaceship. This canvas is now Shellys world. Finally after 22 years in biz Shelly is in charge of her own soap. She deserves it.

I loved the old days when head writers weren't beloved but feared.

They say when Irna Phillips visited the studio,Ms. Phillips greatest HW of all time, the stars would go and hide in their dressing rooms and crew people and executives would quake in their shoes until she left.

What she said was law. An executive could suggest changes but she did things her own way. I bet there isn't a head writer alive now that can command that type of respect (and fear)!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why should they be "feared"? They shouldn't be feared but respected for not putting up with actors dictating their work.

She was feared because she was temperamental, and for those who wanted tgeir steady gig, they knew not to cross her or face her wrath.  She also had control over two of the highest rated soaps in her era, and protégés on others. But we don't hear about Bill Bell or Agnes Nixon being that nasty on as consistent a basis.  Some isolated cases, sure.  But not consistent.  Pat Falken Smith is maybe the closest, but it seems most of her ire and snark was reserved for the EP or network brass.

Feared as in, if you can't respect my work, these scripts or this set, there is the door!

I agree with that when put that way.

Yes, Irna was feared, because she was temperamental.  But she also had people in charge at CBS and P&G who knew they weren't writers and never tried to be, which is more than I could say about TIIC today.

Yeah, but there would be no Stanco, NinUGH, Woodpile, Jillian (who's ridiculously younger than Alexis), Amy, etc.  There would be stories and emotional payoffs!  Not this weekly anticlimactic trash!

Where's Monica now?  And wouldn't she have told that sewer rat off by now for killing AJ?  Monica praised Sonny for doing such a wonderful job bringing up Michael?  All bullchit!

Bobbie is here to solidify that her daughter belongs with the man who continues to disrespect and humiliate her.

ChiaScott as Stanco's dad?  Would Guza have done that?  Hell no!  So there is no way in hell he and Jill were worse than this POS, Valentini!  When is he "retiring", BTW?!!!

Laura?  Meh...

I just was saying that I miss the way Guza did his stunts and keep people on the edge of their seats with his events. I believed there was some GH highers that interfered with Guza when he was writing the show. I know head writers had their own pets, but the show was a hell of lot better than it is today.

Barbara Bloom when she was the head of CBS made a lot of damage by micro managing. She wanted to be a writer and she was not even though she did write Port Charles for a minute
