Maybe if you want to we can still stay in this thread and you can just change the title to something like Roseanne/The Connors Revivals thread. Since the shows are so closely related and we already have a lot of good discussion going on in this thread.

I'm glad to hear it.

I doubt it'll have the ratings or staying power of the last season, but I am glad this cast and that creative team get a chance to continue. I'll be there.

Good to know all the originals are signed. I hope they'll be able to keep the kids, specifically Ames McNamara (Mark) and Jayden Rey (Mary).

Here is the series description of "The Connors" from the tvline article that @Jcar03 posted:

“After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family — Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. — grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”

I wonder who has the unexpected pregnancy. I hope it's not Harris. Maybe it's Becky. We did find out that she wanted to have children though her chances of doing that are lower due to her age. Maybe she finally gets pregnant. Or maybe it's actually Darlene again and it's the result from her sleeping with David when he came back to town.

My suspicion is Darlene.

I'm actually thrilled Laurie will still be there. I hope the loss of Roseanne will force the show to ease Jackie back into her earlier-season character (although Season 10's Jackie was fairly improved from what I saw so far).

very excited. The Conner family represents acceptance. I feel so blessed to be able to show that this fall on @ABCNetwork ❤️ #TheConners

Roseanne Barr will, according to ABC, have no financial or creative involvement in the spinoff http://bit.ly/2K0DW8a

I really wish they had just let this die. She is the one who fought to make it the classic it was. I understand that they couldn't go on with her, but they really shouldn't have gone on at all.

While I'm curious about what happens to the other characters, this show is so dear to me that I'm just going to pretend it ended after last season's finale. It is up to Sara Gilbert now to do what Roseanne did on the original show and fight for a certain vision of a working class family that deals with real problems... I just don't know if I trust her to do that when she hasn't lived that experience and Roseanne has.

    • I do agree that I wish there was more gay representation in terms of singles. I also had hoped we'd get a Black couple since it was a Black soap and I don't know that we've ever seen that on a US soap.  With that said, it's still early days so I can imagine we'll get that at some point. I am impressed they launched with as much LGBT representation considering how US soaps can be.
    • Thank you. I know we're all supposed to see that BTG is progressive when it comes to queer characters, but it's telling that they won't commit to showcasing gay or bi males who are single and looking. That relationship couldn't be any more traditional. Will we ever get a bedroom scene with Smitty and Martin? I have my doubts.
    • This is a pretty huge thing IMO, but I guess we will see what happens? Can't get any worse then already.
    • This can be difficult for a soap to depict. So far she's only shown an interest in women. Will a man come into her life? If she commits to a male, there will be  backlash, but if it's women only, them where is the bi/queer aspect? Personally, I would have liked a single gay male on the show dealing with hook ups/relationships etc. Smitty/Martin married with kids is limiting in those terms.
    • Of course, how could I have forgotten those thrilling episodes depicting the fire? Also we had the GCAC rooftop set that came out every Summer. Moving on to Friday's episode. Victor is propped in his chair, answers his cell and tells the caller 'Let him in'. Seconds later Kyle enters. So does Victor have security on the front porch? It would have been better had Victor taken the call, and then said to himself 'Well Kyle, let's see what you have to say'and fade out. Next scene Kyle enters, indicating that the first call was from the Ranch entrance and time had passed . Nit picky but I get frustrated when they do stuff like that.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
