Not sure

Not sure I agree but we'll never know. She was the newest member.  Her contract was up in October just when Sally and Kay came in.  Writers typically have longer contracts and I doubt she signed on for a year.  And why would she leave the top rated show for a show in danger of cancellation?  I think she was gently let go to make room for Sally's hires.  You can be sure Sally will install a few folks on the staff. She inherited Pratt/Phelps writers.  I respect that they are going to let contracts expire and not clean house willy nilly as Latham did. But there's rarely ever been a head writer who didn't add several of his/her own picks within first six months.

ICAM.  Of course, I wonder which writers could replace them.  Most of the ex-Y&R scribes, it seems, are working at B&B, retired/out of the business, or dead.  Do Sally and Kay have the time to train new writers?

The soaps don't train new writers.  They can barely break in.  Some recent high quality writers include Lyndsey Harrison who wrote for YR several spec scripts and was even lauded by Michael Logan but she was never hired.  Marin Gazzaniga was the best new find on the reboot OLTL and she's never been hired by another soap.  I see Sally and Kay bringing back Anne Schoettle or one of the long time fired writers.   Many of Sally's previous writing partners are either retired (Racina) or with other shows (Val Jean). I'd love Kay to persuade Mulcahey to leave B&B but he's got a sweet deal as script editor/writer/consultant and probably doesn't want to do an hour show.

Yea Y&R has a pickle since their writers/producers either retired or went to B&B and elsewhere. To rebuild the writing team she'll have to bring in people that fit the vision she has to train them. I also wouldn't be opposed to someone like Sarah Bibel returning who was one of the last new writers hired from the Bell team. Only problem is that she may have moved on from soap writing and won't be interested.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
    • Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!
