July 25, 20169 yr Member http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/drake-hogestyn-injury-update/ I'm surprised nobody posted about this over the weekend, unless I overlooked it? I wonder what the heck the mood is behind the scenes. A major head injury due to an improperly prepared prop sounds like a lawsuit in the making...
July 25, 20169 yr Member That's awful and should be a wakeup call for these shows being made on the cheap.

And his age is not a good factor in all of this. Hope he's been recovering well. That's awful and should be a wakeup call for these shows being made on the cheap. When your cheap production values directly lead to injuries requiring hospitalization and a sabbatical, then it's time to finally shape up.
July 25, 20169 yr Administrator Wasn't the original explanation, which SOD reported, that he fell out of a tree? They made it sound like it happened out of the studio. Why the cover up? Serious on set injuries are usually reported. I think it's safe to say that Drake has a job for life at DAYS now (well, until cancellation). Edited July 25, 20169 yr by Toups
July 25, 20169 yr Member NBC and Sony are lucky if he doesn't take them to the cleaners. This is just ridiculous.
July 25, 20169 yr Member IA, Carl. Especially if his injuries cause him permanent damage. I'm just praying he comes through this okay.

Someone posted it in the monthly thread Yes, but now word has come out that it was an on-set injury, versus an innocent fall from a tree on his own property. Shady...
July 25, 20169 yr Member Corday's legal team response? Fire Dena Higley and rehire Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell, then give a 6-page spread to SOD. Seriously though, poor Drake. He's been hard done by that show over the years without suffering actual physical injury. Edited July 25, 20169 yr by Vee
July 25, 20169 yr Member The production company and network should just offer him a settlement, because there is no way this should even go to court. Someone was likely fired, but that's not enough.
July 26, 20169 yr Member he may have settled with Sony, Corday and NBC and it just won't be reported.
July 27, 20169 yr Member I'm sure he has or will. Damn. I hope Drake recovers OK from this. I'm back to remembering why I used to like John waaaay back when. John and Marlena are in the spots they should be at this point and it works for them. But damn at this being at the studio ... wow. That's what happens on a shoestring budget and you're working under tight constraints. They really need to find a different way to save the soaps. Half an hour and online is honestly where they should be headed.
July 27, 20169 yr Member I dont get why they would get a 62 year old man to do his own stunts. They are really that cheap that they wouldnt hire a trained stunt man?
July 27, 20169 yr Member No, they aren't that cheap. They use stunt doubles alot, just last week they had one for Andre in the fight with Aiden. Terry James, the Stunt Coordinator, is at the studio quite often. Some actors want to do their own stunts as much as possible. Breaking in a door doesn't sound like a serious one, we have seen John/Drake kick in many doors over the years...
