The Oscars

I thought it was tacky to not include Joan. She was there every damn year.

Bob Hope and Johnny Carson are dead. Ergo, having anyone else host the Oscars will inevitably result in total disaster.

To me the main problem with the Oscars is the stilted jokes - is it still Bruce Vilanch? Who is it now?

I guess it's some anti-comedian thing.

Perhaps. But I think it's because they are secretly glad she's dead. She minced no words especially when it came to pretentious celebrities and awards shows.

What do you want to bet that next year, the Academy will go out of their way to get more AA nominees than ever? Then it really WILL be like watching the BET Awards!

Hell, they'll even give Oscar himself a new Kangol hat and pair of Adidas shoes to wear!

I was just about to post that next year will be the most top heavy, diverse Oscars yet. This industry is all about doing anything to make sure that the 'lessers' [in their mind] don't revolt.

TBH, I don't give a damn about the Oscars and haven't in awhile. I do get more enjoyment out of award shows like NAACP & BET awards b/c it is equal opportunity.

Sorry I gotta get this off my chest but what pisses me off about 'white Hollywood' is that they'll do anything to shut diversity out but go to an event hosted by Blacks or Latinos and we're always accepting. Just pisses me off.

Judging from all the "moving pictures" references? It's probably Fatty Arbuckle.

'Tis a sad, sad day when A.C. Slater calls you out like that.

How are the BET/NAACP awards equal opportunity? Those shows are as all black (Hispanic) in nominations as the Oscars are white in nominations.

John Legend and Common's performance stole the show for me.

Best Speeches

Honorable mention to John L/Common and Patricia A.

Jimmy Kimmel must have foreseen Sean Pean's joke thus hitting him on the head repeatedly during tonight's skit [or he was giving Sean a taste of what he did to Madonna].

NPH sucked at a substantial level as host. Hopefully they get Ellen back next year.

I'm glad Mario has called Sean Penn out. He's been showing his ass for a moment. And this scares me b/c with the scandal with his older son referring to a paparazzi as a "n*gger" and this joke, I am fearful about him adopting Charlize's infant son, who happens to be black.

Because they don't play politics and everyone has a fair chance of winning. Same can't be said for the Grammys, EMMYS, Golden Globes, or Oscars.

And there have been white people that have won and been acknowledged at these award shows when they don't have to.

Seriously, Graham Moore had me at "Stay weird." I just love him.

This desperate f!ckboy is really in his drawers on the stage.

Julie comes strutting out like that teacher who's been at the high school for 35 years and taught all your cousins, aunts, uncles, and ya mom and dad.

Love you.

If you mean in just simple politics? I guess I can agree with that. Otherwise, the BET, NAACP awards are as color oriented in nominations as the Oscars usually are.

And they were created because we weren't being acknowledged at an Oscars, EMMYS, or Golden Globes; however, there are always white people nominated and winning at both events.

Clive Davis just walked away with a Vanguard Award at the NAACP a few weeks ago. Shows like Greys, Scandal, & HTGAWT, which have more white characters [just black leads], have been shown love the past few years at the NAACP awards. Again, they are more accepting & welcoming than what the major three acting award shows are.
