You should see Sonny fans creaming over themselves because he's a wonderful hero. Mind you, these are the same folks who had a hard time with FrankenTodd jumping in the water, saving Michael and getting nookie because of it. How's Sonny's "redemption" any different from FrankenTodd's?

This was the opportunity to move Sonny past being the inept little maggot surrounded by enablers. He's still the smallest long standing character, and this time, I'm not talking about height.

I think this is TG's swan song. In interviews he spoke about how he wanted Luke to be killed off when he left. I don't see how he can come back from this, DID, brainwashing, or whatever. Franco and Nina stand a better chance, imo. And I don't care to see him redeemed if they try to pull that.

TG had also said that Luke being an anti-hero had no impact anymore because there are so many villains on the show, and that's true, now Luke is a full blown villain too and we don't need another. He should retire, they should kill him off. Unless they're going to pull him out occasionally with Helena whenever he feels like working. Blech. Not interested. CT should retire too, I'm sick of the Cassadines.

I just don't buy this reveal being THE reveal. I feel like something else is coming with this story.

Ron clearly re-worked this. I think he was pissed that A) most people figured out it was Bill-as-Luke, and B.) they complained it was going on too long, so he makes it go on even longer.

EDIT: Ugh, I hate how B.) without the period turns into B)

This Ivy is a bitch. Can we get rid of her? I cant with the way Nik has been thrown under the bus and now Sonny is heralded as a hero

Tracy: "My family practically owns this hospital. You just rent it"

Morgan, STFU! I hated how he was hating on Michael for not being quick to kiss Sonny's ass

ETA: Im ready to drop this show. That stuff with Sonny is so offensive that I cant. Thank you Ron bc you have done it again. The last time I felt this way was when he had Todd go free after the rape story with Marty.

And why did Fluke dig up Bill's corpse? What was the point of that?

I agree. I wanted Morgan to STFU too. I loved Carly all exasperated with his whining. Morgan was ranting like a five year old.

I love how Michael can't believe it that Sonny is getting out of jail on Monday's preview. Yasss. Of course he's going to be seen as the terrible one for daring to think Sonny did this to get out of jail. How DARE he not kiss Sonny's ass for stupidly taking the bomb out of his hands. All Michael had to do was throw it int he water. He was RIGHT there by the railing. Sonny didn't need to do anything to save Michael.

This propping of Sonny is awful.

I also hate how no one is sympathetic towards Michael in terms of hating on Sonny for killing AJ. I don't care whether anyone liked AJ or not. Sonny MURDERED Michael's father. Michael has EVERY right to hate Sonny, regardless of Sonny raising him. So Sonny is glorified for raising a child in the mob. I just don't get it.

Same. I'm #TeamMichael too. I hate how they are writing him as 'in the wrong' and trying to make him an unsympathetic ass.

It's funny because IMO this propping of Sonny is worse than Guza's propping of Sonny. But to be fair I skipped HUGE chunks of Guza's time writing the show. Funny how a few posters accuse us of wanting Guza back when we all say the opposite. Just because we don't like Ron's writing and accept everything he does (and to be fair, I have praised quite a bit over the years) DOESN'T mean any of us want Guza back. I don't understand how hating Ron's writing = I want Guza back. I can't get over that one, LOL.

This bomb was only so Sonny could "save everyone" and get a "get out of jail free card". That's ALL this was. Ron can't write a good story to save his life so he has to come up with ish like this.

Anyone wanna bet Sonny is written all noble on Monday and insist on "paying for his crime"? Once again he will look like a hero and Michael will look like an ass.

Why can't the regular audience see the writing for what it really is?

I do think that if it's really not Bill (and I'm pretty sure it's not now), then it's a petulant eleventh-hour rewrite. We were onto Bill Eckert (and the many unexplained related clues) around March or April. Ron would've creamed himself to just write a Forgotten Man With Deep Historical Ties Bill vs. Luke evil twin plot, possibly by revealing they are brothers with a dark family secret. He is not more complex than that, he's done it before.

He's explicitly lied before about similar bullshit at OLTL, for no real reason than pride, and only admitted it was a slapdash rewrite after the show went off the air, years after the story was produced. So I have no problem believing it here.

    • I think that kind of thinking gives the writers a free pass. OK let's have Fred murder someone but not face any real consequences because Mary loves him. Maybe she'll be angry for a few weeks and Bill will swear to avenge the death but that will blow  over then we can just go on. The idea that a bit of self loathing and rejection is punishment enough is ridiculous. Especially when these type of characters never reform. It allows the writers to go for shock value over and over.instead of crafting storylines that really delve into a dark/ villianous character. Not many people IRL can get away with multiple crimes and still be apart of a community.
    • I guess Wayne felt it was now or never. He'd made a splash at Days and probably hoped that would lead to a primetime series. If he signed for another 3 years at Days then the momentum would be lost and he's probably have to stay in soaps like so many others. And in the back of his mind there was the knowledge he could probably get a role on SB or GH if he didn't luck out in primetime or Days didn't want him back. As it turned out he returned to Dynasty and got a couple of primetime gigs before agreeing to go back to Days.

I got to agree. The show was a mess.  The stories that are not working were the ones featured in today's episode. That was a red flag indicating how bad the episode was going to be.
    • Thanks as always @alwaysAMC The remote was panned in the soap press at the time, especially Philip wandering around in the costume as well as some of the comedy.  I have to admit it didn't bother me, even though I knew how ludicrous the idea was of the Spauldings having a wedding at a theme park. I thought there were some fun moments and I did like the scene where Lucy got to cry and grieve over what Brent had done to her.  I think I was just glad to get away from the stories in Springfield, which were bad and getting worse.  There are a number of attempts at revamping the opening music in 1996. I'll be interested in what you think of them. I remember being glad they updated the photos but also noticing how cheap they looked. The show did need a new opening. Sadly, Rauch would instead just not even have an opening for over 5 years.
    • BTG: - Shelley Curtis first listed as Director on May 19   Another FOJulie director.
    • It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a good soap cat fight so this was highly satisfying. Loved the Drew/Curtis scenes. Drew may not end up murdered but someone is going to try and kill him and it feels like it’s going to be much sooner than later. Who thought Dante ranting and raving for weeks on end would be good writing just to create angst between him and Gio. I really don’t think you needed to make Dante this fuc.king annoying.
    • I get what you're saying, in that this is what allows you to accept what you are watching, and that works for you. But for me, changing the traits of a character that much with a recast and new writing, then they are no longer the same character.  I am unable to accept that a villain is now just a nice dude because the show wants me to, I just cannot.  If they want a grey character, then they should write off the villain and *create* a new character who is grey.  I'll never accept that Sonny Corinthos is a nice guy, despite what GH wants me to think.  Same goes for the villains on DAYS. It's frustrating for me, and not enjoyable.  It occurs to me that I watch soaps to be entertained, and the current show is just making me angry and irritated. It's not fun for me.  I want to honor Drake to see John's story conclude, but there isn't much of interest to me anymore at all, so I'll probably stop following the show in a few weeks.
    • The wikipedia article doesn't explain much. I watched the Party of Five reboot, it was on Freeform in 2020.  It was five years ago, but I'll tell you what I remember: In the original Party of Five series , the parents died, and the five sibling orphans worked together to raise themselves with the older ones looking out for the younger, while managing the family restaurant.  The oldest child wants to have fun but ends up assuming the responsibility. In the 2020 reboot: The family were Mexican, the parents were undocumented, and the oldest child is an adult who could stay in the US for DACA.  In the reboot, instead of the parents dying -- in the first episode the parents were arrested by ICE and sent back to Mexico.   The five children were left in the U.S. to raise themselves with the older ones looking out for the younger, while managing the family restaurant.  The oldest child wants to have fun but ends up assuming the responsibility.  The teens go through teen stuff and the older ones explore careers.  The child daughter feels sad without her parents, and there is also a baby.  But the children were able to have periodic phonecalls with their parents in Mexico, which were very emotional.  The children hire an attorney to try to get their parents returned to the U.S.  The dad phones them to check on the management of the restaurant.  The younger children crave talking to the mom on the phone. The viewers also see how the parents are coping with the strain in Mexico:  the mom works as a nanny and the dad gets odd jobs-- they almost divorce, and the mom wants to stay in Mexico.  I think a few of the children got to take the bus to Mexico to visit their parents. The youngest child was a baby and the next-youngest missed the parents very much.  In the season one finale, it was decided that the youngest two would remain Mexico and live with their parents.  The older children remained in the USA and were following their dreams.  Season One finished airing just as the COVID epidemic began and everything shut down. The show was not renewed for Season Two.   That's all I remember.  It was good but very different from the original. Edit to add: Amazing how the world has changed in five years.  The reboot was filmed in 2019 during the first Tr*mp presidency, and aired in 2020.  The immigration situation was tense then, and that was explored in the series.  But it seems carefree in comparison to the real world today in 2025. Edit to add more thoughts.  I have no idea what would have happened in future seasons, since the five siblings were no longer a "party of five" at the end of Season One.   Supposedly the cancellation wasn't even announced until after the Season One finale aired.  But the season one finale was 90 minutes and wrapped up some lose ends, so maybe the producers anticipated a cancellation, and did that just in case? Perhaps if it there had been future seasons, the younger children would age and then return to the USA and the five would reunite? I don't know.
    • Probably not. Then again, if any character defined the final 25 years of GL it was Reva.
