"In the Heat of the Night" Reboot?

Has Annemarie Johnson ever played a character who wasn't an annoying goober?

She did a guest spot on Leverage where she played a villain. She's another one who hasn't aged.

I'm another one who grew up on this show. My mom's from Mississippi and she'd always laugh at the portrayal of Sparta as a small town that somehow had all these big city issues.

I can't imagine a reboot of this show. I can't even imagine them topping the guest stars this show had.

One of the more interesting reveals was Joanne's past as a prostitute and her ultimate departure.

What cable network do you see picking this up? I see it on USA. They showed the movie earlier this year and it fits with all the procedural reruns on the network.

Poor JoAnn. Bill Gillespie was sweet on the old gal until he learned of her past. Then, he acted as if she carried the plague.

Mama Khan and I always laugh about Virgil's Aunt Etta, who was a token if ever there were one.

They air reruns on WGN as well. Bill Champlin, singer/songwriter who at the time was in the band Chicago, performed the theme song.

I get reruns on Cozi in Chicago.

I'm just thinking about Anne-Marie Johnson going from this right to In Living Color. Talk about your completely different worlds!!! LOL

Yep, that was the other annoying role I was referring to. She wasn't too, too bad on Heat. Her style fit that show better than it did WHN!! Then right after she left Heat, she went to In Living Color lol

Then there's always this (apologies for clip, as it was all I could find):

AMJ was also interviewed for the Unsung Hollywood episode about What's Happening!!, which aired earlier this year. She's barely aged a bit.

Speaking of Anne-Marie Johnson, repeats of What's Happening Now!! are now airing on FamilyNet.

OMG---hadn't heard a lick about this. FLOVED ITHOTN!! Yes, Bubba was fine. Even when he was shootin' down drunken passes from Martha Byrne---Beauty Queen.

Althea's rape was one of the most wrenching tv episodes ever.

I completely agree it's a concept that's easily updated with every generation. I was SHOCKED that the initial pilot was practically the movie reshot. I was also shocked Josh's daddy HB was the bad guy, but that's another discussion for another time.
