SMDH. Y&R has become a TV has-been wasteland. Any why the f*ck are they casting a mother for Kelly & Stitch--two characters that no one gives a flying f*ck about?

It's the new Love Boat!

Cynthia Preston is Kelly #3. Each recast more pointless than the last!

Meredith Baxter is a pretty strong dramatic actress. I don't see why soaps should be beholden to out-of-work soap stars. Hell, I'd love to see some soap veterans pop up in all types of movie and TV roles, but that would require them to audition (which, none of us here could possibly know this) and for them to do a good job. I've always wanted to see MB on a soap, but they'll never make me watch Y&R.

I'm being serious, too, Chit. I think she'd KILL it as their mama.

Oh, [!@#$%^&*]. Looked it up on SoapCentral and learned Neil and Malcolm have different mothers. Oh, well. Ja'Net could still play Neil's mama, while someone like Pam Grier could play Malcolm's.

They do? I could have sworn i heard the fighting over their mother when Darius was Malcolm. I think MAB retconned that.

Maybe she is Nikki's new love interest? I'd watch that, purely out of morbid curiosity tongue.png

At least now we know why MTS was so elated. Since the passing of JC, MTS was always the oldest woman in scenes. This certainly takes a load off!

Soaps are the only place an out of work soap star will get work. Sitcom stars and someone with MB's name recognition could work elsewhere. This is just like when of out of work movie stars turn to TV thus pushing out of work TV stars out of work even more.

They really are running through that Rolodex. Given that I mentioned her in the status bar 2 or 3 times last week, perhaps I should keep that going by mentioning other sitcom people I want to see in daytime.

Telma Hopkins IS Amy Lewis.

Baxter has a recurring role on "Finding Carter" playing mom to Cynthia Watros' character.

I really hope the show doesn't consider this "stunt" casting. I consider a stunt someone who they actually think is going to bring viewers in (like GH probably considered James Franco) not former sitcom stars from the 1970's and 1980's who probably need the paycheck.

Yep! It's a cycle.

I won't mind MB if her drunken scenes w/ MTS are entertaining. She can flit about the canvas, but at the end of the day she can take her kids with her when Nikki sobers up.

They have even built a bar for these two ladies to drink in. I guess the GCAC and Underground are too well known.

I have to admit the thought of Nikki having a drunken one night stand with a woman is kind of funny.... tongue.png
