GH: June 2014 Discussion Thread

Didn't Liz actually tell Obrecht to go ahead and fire her? And then Obrecht did. And Liz act all shocked.

Yep, but at the same time, Obrecht should shut up because like I've said, Liz was a part of her sorry behind going free and allowed to even go BACK to the hospital. And the fact that Obrecht is running GH is just absolutely ridiculous on every level and that the board backs her. I just can't with that load of bull. What hospital would ever allow a woman who's pulled as many crimes as she has run their hospital? I know it's a soap and logic (especially on a Ron show) goes out of the window, but at the same time, some things are just too hard to buy. Unfortunately, it's how Ron believes he can weave Dr. O into the show and keep her there and he doesn't care how it happens. I enjoy Dr. O and how she has no time for those idiots at the hospital, to be honest, but it's hard to take her seriously as a character at this point in her time on the show.

Robin's return, which was built on for so long, was an utter waste to have her turn around and leave again.

Exactly.

I hate to say it, because I know it'll be an unpopular opinion, but...if KMc won't commit to a permanent, full-time return...perhaps it's time to consider recasting Robin? Just a thought.

NuRobin... now with alters!

Let's see: Robin, Bobbin, Dobbin, Hobbin and Nobbin (they're twins), and Sobbin....

Lord, that's so who they'd go with (I have to say I think dark hair works better on her than blonde ever did).

But I agree, maybe recasting Robin is what should happen. But in reality, they never should have wrote her out that way (she should have stayed dead), and they shouldn't have written the story as if she were sticking around. And didn't she offer to actually stay a little while longer but they basically couldn't wait to get rid of her? I mean, I know they weren't gleefully kicking her out the door but I took it they more or less had no more use for her.

GH never should have changed their minds about killing off Robin.

Please. Killing her would have been a horrible mistake.

The show chose to work with her schedule and then chose to use her time and work her exit the way they did. It's on them, but they know most of the audience would never stand for a recast. Myself included. They also could've worked with her to keep her around long-term like other recurring players or on short contracts, but they didn't do that.

If Robin is going to separated from her child, we need to know that it's by force and not by choice. What stay at home mom, soap opera bread and butter, let alone the rest of us, will ever look at Robin the same? Not all viewers are board and magazine soap fans who watch the show on two levels like we do: what's happening on screen, what's going on behind the scenes. At least we can sort of detach ourselves and look at it as unfortunate scheduling and ill-conceived plot, not our precious little Robin growing up to be a selfish, brain damaged thug chasing deadbeat mom 35 minutes after coming back from the dead.

That's a bad thought. Might as well recast Laura, Robert, and say Aunt Ruby didn't die and bring her back as a recast. There is a small list of roles I would not accept a recast in save for death of the actor. They could bring on Daniel Day Lewis to play Alan Q and he still wouldn't be the real Alan.

Do people forget that Robin didnt just up and go to the spa to get a beauty treatment?

She is basically held against her will at that facility. She agreed to go to save Jason (dumbest reason ever but still) but she is still Victor Cassadine's prisonner. Im pretty sure you dont get personal days off when you are forced to work for an inbred, psychotic tyrant.

Against her will??? She couldn't get to Jason fast enough! She is exactly where she wants to be, sadly. Nobody is forcing her to do anything.

All they need to do is say that Robin and Patrick have joint custody and use that to explain where Emma is when she is (thankfully) offscreen. Since that might burst the fantasy bubble that 'brina is Emma's only true mother, I doubt it will happen.

I don't see a need to recast Robin, although knowing our saviors, I'm sure some random Y&R actress will be getting a call soon enough.

Eden Reigel IS Robin Scorpio...

Pretty sure Frank Valentini would never allow a recast.

Meh, the viewers and the character shouldn't suffer because we have an incompetent head writer and actress who won't stick around. I know recasting Robin would never happen, but seriously, they should have left her dead. How is this doing the character any favors? It's not.

It serves the story. Character be damned.

How so? Kim's returns to the ATM will kill the character more with each visit. They should have killed Robin off with this return. Once her captors realize she is sick, they return her home and Robin can be with her family for the last 6 months of her life. Better characters than this have been killed off of soaps, WAY BETTER! This also would have given Anna/Duke/Patty a revenge story (as much of a story as moRon can write). Ryan's Hope killed of Mary Ryan when Mulgrew didn't return. Nicolette Goulet (RIP), whom I loved, didn't fit and rather than pile on mistake after mistake (morons at YR), RH killed the character and made a story out of it for Jack and the Ryans.

The stans would not be happy, but again, are they happy now? Write for the damn show, and when that happens, everyone is happy and not just the wacko stans!

AMEN!

Pretty sure Frank Valentini would never allow a recast.

Why not? Because he's so devoted to the actress/character? Not from where I'm sitting! But a recast would be worthless when there is no care given to the character. Why is that even a topic of discussion? The Revitalizers don't care about characters they didn't create and you believe Snobin is sacred to them? Oh Vee :( :( :(

GH never should have changed their minds about killing off Robin.

Preach!
