Members ReddFoxx Posted March 14, 2015 Members Share Posted March 14, 2015 I agree, it's nothing new, the programming blocs that newer networks had a couple of decades ago that catered to more urban audiences are proof of that. Those shows were eventually dropped, though, when those networks took different directions. I remember about 10-15 years ago, TV Land was into making documentaries about TV history, and there was one about blacks in dramatic roles. Several people pointed out that there had never been a successful family drama centered on a black family on network television - ever. I refused to believe it, but it was true!! It boggles my mind, especially with the success of Roots, that no one ever thought to bring forth a black answer to Eight is Enough or The Waltons or whatever.
