I am surprised that Sharon Case and Michael Muhney weren't nominated, but for different reasons. (Thank God MM wasn't).

And isn't it funny that Y&R didn't get a nom for set design? LOL!

And this is not Y&R, but Heather Tom being nominated in any category for B&B with KKL (as was true with Susan Flannery) means that KKL will not win.

(BTW, I like Amelia Heinle so much more as Victoria than HT.)

Actually the work SC is doing over the last few months has shown greater ranger than when she was screaming in the board room. She really should get a nod next year but if AH gets a nom, SC damn sure should've gotten one even with some of the bad storylines she was in.

I'm also getting really tired of these discussions between Ben and Kelly about "what he did". No one talks like that, and if he's not a serial killer, it's overkill. Whatever "he did" that no one can know about is going to be lame, not shocking.

On the other hand, I'm really enjoying Sharon's amnesia and how they are still playing out all the beats of Summer's paternity secret. I think this is masterful. Along the lines of how Phillip Spalding's paternity played out for years on GL.

Did Sharon hurt Phyllis? Cause her coma? Did Phyllis know about Summer's true paternity? I used to hate Sharon. She's the main reason I quit watching YR years ago. But I am rooting for her even though I know she's going to get busted and it's going to be awful.

Here's what I think:

Several years ago, Stitch and Kelly had an affair. Stitch accidentally struck down and killed Kelly's son; and even though Kelly knew he was responsible, she kept quiet (and so did Stitch) for the sake of her marriage. Stitch ended the affair, though, and went off to Afghanistan.

Stitch re-committed himself to Jenna and their child-to-be...as Kelly's marriage fell apart. When Stitch got a job at the hospital, he thought he had another chance at a happy, normal life with Jenna and Max. However, as Jenna was preparing to join him in GC, she found out about his affair (and maybe even the fact that he accidentally killed Kelly's son and colluded with Kelly to cover it up). Jenna promptly filed for divorce, and Stitch blamed Kelly.

Of course, given the fact that Stitch and Kelly and their story has played out in the midst of a HW'ing team change-over, I wouldn't be surprised to learn their secret is something totally out of left field. I mean, something really cray, like he was a controlling, abusive, jealous husband who murdered Kelly's brother, whom he suspected of seducing his wife, and Jenna fled the United States -- and uh-oh, look out, Kelly and Victoria, he's coming after you two with a gun!

I am inclined to agree with you Khan. On the other hand, the longer the characters (and writers) dance around the reasons why, I'm inclined to change my opinion to thinking that it will be something out of left field that won't be nearly as earth shattering as they've been building it to be.

The more time passes, I'm inclined to go with rhinohide's theory that the secret will pan out to be quite lame.

This regime seems fond of revising things and backing away from their original story projections.

TPTB seem intent on boosting the status of Stitch, I mean from a marginal character (Dylan's army buddy) to some part of a romantic pairing and today's writers have been hit and miss with writing complicated characters. The hit and run driver, in addition to an unfaithful husband may prove to be one too many complications for their potential 'romantic hero'. That is, if this is the way they intend to go.

I would not be surprised to learn, for example, Stitch, Kelly, and their respective spouses were all members of Ian's cult; and that Ian programmed Stitch to knock Dylan off that camel in Afghanistan so that he could insinuate himself into the life of (surprise!) his half-brother by daddy Ian and slowly bring him into the organization. With Jean Passanante as HW, it could be literally anything.

    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.

    • Where did I say that you weren't allowed to say anything? Personally I just find "disgusted" a very strong word, and not something I would use for such a trivial matter as a song contest. You obviously do, and that's your prerogative, just as it is mine to disagree.
