She was mostly focused on Our House. They used a body double for awhile while she was laying in her hospital bed. She'd tape multiple episodes a day (back when they didn't do that much) and then they put her on the island with Orpheus so she could quickly tape all of her stuff without involving a majority of the cast.

PREEMPTION DATA CAN BE FIGURED OUT FROM THE FOUR "MISSING" WEEKS...

Good news, about the preemption data at least, for the 4 missing weeks from 1987 and 1991. I realized we can compare the # of telecasts in the prior book to the # of telecasts in the next book and figure out if any soaps were preempted during the "missing week." For example, we don't have the 10/19/87-10/23/87 book, but by comparing the # of telecasts in the 10/12/87 book, and seeing if all soaps had 10 additional telecasts in the 10/26/87 book, that would confirm if anything was preempted in the 10/19/87 book.

All of the soaps had 10 additional telecasts in their telecast column between 10/12 to 10/26, so that confirms there were NO full preemptions of any soaps during the missing week of 10/19/87.

Y&R back to #1! February 1987 big storylines were Ashley in the New York psychiatric facility and Nikki illness.

@Soapsuds will be happy to see As the World Turns at 3rd. This would have been the England remote leading to Frannie and Sabrina meeting. Julianne Moore A&E Biography showed the Frannie/Sabrina meeting scene.

A month away from the end of Capitol and start of B&B. Capitol seems to have gotten a boost with the end being near.

Interesting because 10/19/87 was the date of a historic stock market crash, which would have been reported during the day.  Also, 10/17 - 10/25/87 was the last year that MLB played daytime games for the World Series, and it was broadcast on ABC, but the games started at 3pm EST.

I just looked in a newspaper from 10/17/87, and the World Series schedule is listed as all night games (all 8:25PM ET or 8:30PM ET starts), except for Game 6, if needed, which was a Saturday 4PM ET start.  So it looks like 1986 was the last time they did regular daytime games for the World Series.

As for the stock market crash, we don't have the partial preemptions for that week, just full preemptions. All the soaps aired 5 episodes that week, so at most, they were possibly partially preempted for stock market news stories.

It's too bad that all of February was removed from YouTube. It had the great remote.  A 7.9 was an outstanding number for ATWT.

"MISSING WEEK" 12/14/87-12/18/87 Preemptions (confirmed via Telecasts as of 12/13 & 12/27):

The Christmas Day preemptions for all ABC & CBS soaps means their telecast numbers should go up by 9 during the missing week, and the NBC soaps should go up by 10 telecasts, which they all do. So there were NO full preemptions for the missing week of 12/14-12/18/87.

    • Yeah, not sure why Jack and Jen didn’t rush to Marlena - or even Carrie - to offer their condolences. A few flashbacks would've been a nice touch too. Instead, we got a whole episode of them talking about Chad and Abby? Come on. On the bright side, I loved Anna’s scenes with Marlena and Carrie - sweet and heartfelt, felt like a real 80s throwback.
    • Martin and Smitty were designed to avoid the stereotype of gay men sleeping around (which to an extent is true). If you recall Martin had a line about them not being open when Chelsea came to talk to him. The producers are walking a very fine line right now and it might not be popular to say but I can understand it. Establishing enough footing to ward off complaints will let them showcase gay characters more openly later.
    • The week was decent. They have started to rotate their stories and finally got a rhythm going. I disagree about them allowing every character to have a moment to shine though. Nicole really hasn't been given anything to do. I completely agree with all this. I adore Doug and hope he makes it through.

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
