Ugh at my browser restarting and me losing all I had written

vmmODol.jpg

Spencer is like the most adorable thing ever. That boy is such a good little actor too. I had written that I wish they would acknowledge that Sonny is Spencer's uncle and literally after I did, they had Lesly mention taking him over to see his Uncle. Courtney was all but erased from the GH record books so it was a shock to hear her remembered today. I could go for Carly seeing that kid bc she was best friends with his mother.

Ewww to that hair

Ewww to these two. They are still on the show? Wasn't this fake romance like 2-3 months ago. I cant believe it all happened offscreen not that Im complaining, but big eye rolling to them picking it up as if its been a thing all along. I cant with their silly immature nonsense

Mac and Felicia STILL ignore their grandchild. Connie leaves town and NEITHER goes to see her.

yeah they dragged Rafe and Taylor back from where they came, now if they can go back, though I'm indifferent toward Rafe, without the Barrington side of him being mentioned, I don't see the point of his character

I hate how these soaps don't know how to write for their teens anymore, and when they try they are stuck in the olden days..

I also like the kid playing Spencer.. He's so adorable...

Mac, Felicia, Robert, Anna and Robin not having scenes with baby Connie/Georgie, I don't get why..

I'm writing this on my phone because my wifi isn't working.

I actually enjoyed Fridays episode. BYE spinelli and ellie. Maybe there air plane crashes and that's how Maxie gets DID! 😑

The episode was made by Spencer going to see Sonny. I'm glad they finally remember that spencer is related to sonny. And im so glad Leslie got to take him.

The Lulu / Dante scenes were good! Carly is annoying AF lately.

Ron and Frank decided a while back that they can just pretend stories are still active no matter how long they drop them.

I understand the budgetary impetus behind that kind of story rotation, but it's gone way beyond the pale both on GH and in the last couple of years they had on OLTL. When they started their regime at OL you would go a week or two without a couple people being featured much and it was a healthy system - they also stockpiled a lot of vet guarantees, like Erika Slezak, Hillary Smith, etc. so that they could bring them on great guns during key sweeps material while parceling them out carefully when they needed to. In the meantime the characters who were being downshifted for a couple weeks would get a day or two in that timeframe. But for a long time, it never felt imbalanced. Until it eventually tipped over, and they've never recovered from that.

I'm sure a big part of it is budget, but an equal part of it at this point IMO is the way Ron's work is structured. He can no longer manage that many characters and stories, so he just shuttles them off indefinitely and expects a day or a line or two here or there to be enough for the audience to believe there is still some sort of "arc" in play for the characters that are getting short shrifted. And it's not as though these kids are fascinating or anything, this story's all crap - but to keep it, or any storyline, going as though no time has passed and pick it up like it's nothing, it's ridiculous.

Amen! Praise Jesus!

Viewers were squawkin about how great the Spencer/Sonny scenes were, but I was scratching my head because there was no prior relationship outside of being blood related. He drops people in scenes and fans say "thank you Ron for giving us something Guza didn't". Thank God Guza never told stories like this! Thursday's show was the first time I really appreciated what Craptini has done. There were spots here and there before this, but Thursday seemed like someone actually cared and knew how to write a soap.

BTW, wasn't Shawn some sort of teacher or science professor or something at one point? Doesn't he have those credentials under his belt? And yet all he does for a living is run Kelly's and not kill people for Sonny as "The Black Guy I Had To Hire When Jason Died".

It's not that I can't understand Shawn doing this kind of wetwork - he has a background in that. But he was also supposedly tormented by those years. While I believe what he told Alexis when they split - about needing the rush - it should be something he struggles against, that he tries to better himself past; it should be an ongoing thread as he tries to go back into his civilian line of work that he's passionate about. Instead they've got the one contract(?) black male on the show raising a young man while they both know he makes his money as a mob enforcer, and they act like it's no big thing. It's such a lousy use of Sean Blakemore.

They could have him teaching at PCU. Or at the high school. They have enough young people. Even if they didn't you could just show him with a briefcase, I don't care. But to make it where he's running the greasy spoon and killing folks and him and T.J. are just shrugging it out - I think it's a shitty message and a really shady use of the two black dudes on the show.

I mean, there's got to be some sort of better medium between that and the incredibly boring tokens on Y&R. Yes, I find all of them boring, every last one.

Hell, he could have done some work at Deception for Lucy and Laura. That was all cosmetics or perfumes or something.

    • There's also the soap opera conundrum: once characters get everything they want, they tend to stagnate. Nola got everything she wanted. One of the things that was really interesting about her was that tremendous need for things out of her grasp. Once that was resolved, there wasn't much left for her to play. Maybe Long could have found something to replace that, but since she wasn't created by Long, she probably preferred to focus on the needy character she created: Reva. They were still significant stockholders. They could have punched back. Vanessa forced to team with the brother she resents. I can see it working.
    • She could have easily tied them into the Cottage Mystery...(they could have easily explained going on adventures with Bea, babysitting) The house that Tony and Annabelle lived in could have been the coachhouse of the property that Qualo and Henry live in, or at the very least Nola would have been totally in on ghosts and secrets of her brother's house. But they kind of just sat around for months.  The clip of Van and Billy's impromptu wedding shows how sidelined Nola and Quint became...Nola isn't even around butting in on them getting married, its all Reva (though it is a more interesting Reva where Mindy and her or going at it and insulting each other..THAT Reva was fun.)  I loved it when those two would go at it. Somehow they could have resurrected that antogonistic relationship and not have Billy worshing at the throne of Reva.  When they brought JC back on recurring they should have had him at least warn Annie about Jeva pulling her down..."Darlin' I love my brother, but when he has ole Reva in his sites he will drop any woman to try to win her back...and then he will get bored with her...she's like booze is to me and you...he hates it but he needs it..get out while you can!"
    • It's been brought up that Empty Nest was a time slot hit. Here's Empty Nest schedule and seasonal rating in comparison to The Golden Girls. 1988/89: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1989/90: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1990/91: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 10th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 7th. 1991/92: The Golden Girls Saturday 8 pm, 30th (final season). Empty Nest Saturday 9 pm, 22nd.  1992/93: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1993/94: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1994/95: Saturday 8:30 pm then 8 pm, below the Top 30, and cancelled. Empty Nest 7 season run equaled the parent show The Golden Girls.
    • In an interesting turn of irony, when Somerset came onto the airwaves in 1970... it ran against Dark Shadows and beat it in the ratings fairly quickly.  Then when Edge of Night moves to ABC in December 1975 and put against Somerset, the slow ratings rise that Somerset was allegedly having in late 1975 is derailed. From reading the write ups of the final year, the show dropped the May/December romance.. which viewers enjoyed and was getting the show some good press... the original cast member was sidelined due to medical issues, and the show featured pure crime stories without any balance. I think the crime focus was an attempt to compete with EON.  However, people that were into crime stories/mysteries weren't going to tune into Somerset for their fix.. not when Edge of Night was known for that.. and that show was running on a high quality wise when the network switch occurred.

    • Erwin Nicholson's last episode as SFT ep was 11/21. Whitesell started 11/22/85. Erwin was on board from March 8, 1985 so less than 9 months. Whitesell lasts six months (approximately) before P&G moved him to AW for two years where he primarily worked with DePriest. Whitesell was replaced on Search by no daytime experience David Lawrence who closed out the show's last six months.

    • I assume in name only?  One Stormy Night wasn't exactly steamy.  If it's a literal throwback then Stephanie's writing about sexy times her own Uncle was having lol. Since I am going to surmise it's just a throwback to the name, Night Sins and Winter Heat both sound sexier.  Just saying.  I swear Jamey (and Ron) just google things and land on the first thing they like and decide it's a good throwback to history without watching it.
