Y&R: Return!

But he would auditioning when his contract was about to be up. The casting directors wouldn't know at the time of auditions if he was currently still on contract. His resume wouldn't say the years he was on the show.

And it doesn't take everyone years to get a regular role upon leaving a soap . Ask Graz he's one his second pilot since leaving Y&R.

That's the whole point, you can't be on a soap, auditioning for pilot season, thinking you're going to land a regular role in primetime when you have a daytime contract (often on a competing network)...Michael Graziadei also had a much, much bigger resume in much higher profile work when he finally quit. As well, he looks far younger than Billy Miller and they're exactly the same age.

Have any of his pilots been picked up? Because if not, he has not gotten a regular role. I think Graz has a shot, but it might or might not happen right away. And for many people it does take years.

You are making my point. I can count on one hand the number of soap actors who have gotten regular roles auditioning during pilot season. It has gotten even harder now that so many movie stars are going to tv to get regular work. Right now, when I look at the soap actors who have gotten regular prime time roles to a person they have been off the soaps for several years during which time they auditioned like crazy and did guest spots.

And yet Graziadi seem to do just fine in guest spots while still on contract and got recurring roles too. Is he lucky or a better actor?

As for miller, he seemed to be auditioning a lot. Remember when he was not shown for weeks on end. The story really suffered.

Like minds...MG does just fine.

Miller was not willing to take that leap and would hold YR hostage as long as TPTB allowed him to. YR was his safety net and he wanted to come and go as he saw fit hoping THAT gig would pop up. How do you write a show that way? Either take the leap and leave or sign with YR on the dotted line. What Billy was offering was not in the best interest of YR.

All I have been saying is that I have no idea why Miller did not leave sooner. All the stuff about holding Y&R hostage has nothing to do with the point I was making. Besides, no one held a gun to Y&R's head as far as I could tell.

I actually thought it might happen then too. I could sort of see BM on the CW. I guess you never know, maybe it could still happen for him, but I'll admit it would surprise me.

I could see him on something like The Originals or Tomorrow People.

He has had several recurring roles...not sure they were regular. But that is far more than BM.

No, he doesn't. He was on an episode of 90210 last year and looks far younger than Amelia Heinle.

There is an interview in the other thread of him from three-four weeks ago

Again, you are making my point. All that most soap actors hanging on to their daytime jobs can do is get primetime guest roles. Graziadi had to leave and audition full time before he got a shot at those pilots and who knows if they get picked up. He might have to audition tons more before getting a regular role or he can get one tomorrow.

Like minds...MG does just fine.

I have no idea how this competition you are creating between Graz and BM has anything to do with the point that I was making.

MG took that leap and he has not suffered for it. YR would have to work around Miller's schedule. He ain't no damn Lucci or Geary!

Bye talking ham!

The Tomorrow People sucks as it is.

His resume does not list dates so casting directors would not have know if he was currently on a soap during auditions. They would just look at it as another past gig.

Exactly. He was using them as the fallback and settling in for a nice long Tony Geary Vacation Plan. And even Tony Geary hasn't earned that in a long time.

This is not to say, mind you, that JFP's show is any good, because it's not, or that her obsession with and catering to Steve Burton is any more justified, because what they're doing with him is a massive failure - he's infinitely more overhyped and under-delivering than Miller ever was, he's been phoning it in from the ranch for years. But I've already watched Burton get booted off of GH, so that's all I care about.

The CW? The place of beautiful, young people with perfectly sculpted bodies...nah!

I agree that Y&R didn't have to keep him on. That was their choice and he didn't screw them over.

JFP, or perhaps Sony working through her, seem much less willing to go along with this now. I hope this puts some of the others on notice, if Stafford's exit already didn't.
