The attorneys are already getting paid. A firm like the one that's now representing PP doesn't take cases on contingency. This isn't some personal injury outfit.

I guess I don't understand this attitude. They're greedy bastards because they want ABC to pay for not adhering to the terms of the contract ABC signed? They're asking for a lot in damages, and they probably won't get that much, if any, depending on how it goes, but trust me - a lawyer did not pull that number out of thin air. They've based it on something, probably tied to the amount PP has paid out in fees or will pay out over the course of the contract + the estimated net or gross on both shows over the life of the contract.

I find them greedy because I see them scape-goating ABC for the failure of this project. It's all ABC's fault. PP's own incompetence had nothing to do it. My question is why isn't AMC isnt production right now?

Because if you have an almost $100 million lawsuit alleging that ABC damaged your production of these two shows and left you unable to continue them, would you really be so stupid as to have one of those shows in production and airing new, well-rated episodes? Sure, they risk pissing off a large contingent of fans and losing viewers for good if they ever do manage to bring the show back, but for $95 million, I'd risk it.

You can't fund independent programming entirely on bluster and extortion. And I think that's what PP has been doing for a while.

I think they had some very valid complaints about ABC and GH's handling of the licensing issues early on, but I never felt a lawsuit was necessary. I thought that was a means to an end first to try and force ABC's hand into giving them everything they wanted re: the actors, then to try and get more money to keep the engines running. I still think it's about the money.

I've always had to mentally separate the two programs and their creative teams and ensembles from PP's upper management, and this situation is no different. It's an embarrassing debacle, and it's a shame those two fine shows and the real effort put into them this year have to be inextricably tied to it. I would love to see them continue to be independently produced with the same level of care and attention to detail, but it's obvious the executives in question here have other priorities. I support the shows that were produced, but not the management.

It seems to me PP is blaming abc for everything. They need to own up to their own failures in this launch. Abc has high level attorneys. I honestly believe abc if found at fault they would be responsible for a portion of the damages not their entire investment. Basically PP feels abc is a 100 percent to blame which while they might be seen partially blame they are no way getting 95 million. PP own up to your mistakes.
