The only one getting consistent story is Tyler (who will be marginalized to the backburner after his relationship with Lily ends).

Leslie, while not brought on by JFP, was promoted by JFP and gets airtime. These writers don't do much with anyone. However, I have seen more AAs this past year than I have in 5 with MAB. I totally agree about Tyler. I think that it is a known fact that no matter who is on charge at Y&R, they have no use for any young AA male that can't be paired with Lily. Devon suffers from this and it is why Nate hasn't been brought on. I wish the writers would move on from that fear of the BM/WW IR couple (and no tyler and Abby is going nowhere fast and is all about Lily) or bring on another young female lead (DO NOT PUT HER WITH NEIL like they did Leslie).

I'm reading the new Soap Uncensored, which has a great report on this, and the most troubling thing I found is that Steve Burton is the highest paid actor on Y&R and they pay for him to travel to and from Nashville for the show. Just ridiculous. All that money wasted on someone who isn't bringing in any viewers and is playing one of the most forgettable characters in Y&R history.

Michelle Stafford was offered big money to stay, she decided to leave. For some people it just isn't worth the money. She'll likely have no problem finding other gigs, so why would she want to sign a contract and commit herself to a toxic work environment. Let's not act surprised, the same thing happened at GH.

See, I don't buy that because why would MS leave if they were rolling out the red carpet for her and offering big bucks? Toxic environment? An environment that MS has contributed to in spades. Months before she left, MS was re-assuring fans that she was still on the show. Her audience was used to seeing her in every story in everyone's face - winning. JFP put a stop to that, so I have to believe that if MS wasn't putting up with anything, it had to be that she would not be dominating the screen any longer. She even admitted that she called AM, and I'm still trying to figure that out. Why call AM if she was not trying to usurp JFP's authority?

YR's numbers don't appear to be suffering w/o her. And this is nothing different from what SBu did at GH. Once he learned that he would be sharing that pond with other big fish, SB decided to leave. Same with MS!

Exactly its no different than what SBu did at GH. MS was no longer top dog and had to play supporting to PB she decided to leave.

I don't even know why MS called AM because contracts are with Sony not CBS.

When SBu first came on they said he was nikki's son. I guess that beats being victor's.

OH Please !!!! I can't believe they are using this old tired outdated plot device just to to tie Steve Burton to a core cast member. If they say Jack is the father they are insane. The only freaking way they could explain the father is if Nikki had him at age 12 with Paul or concoct an unseen/never mentioned character out of thin air later to be casted with a FOJ (calling Kale Brown). They can say Nikki lost her virginity to him going off to vietnam (part of her duty for the war effort) and had an out of wedlock child of the presumed dead guy and she gave it up for adoption. A couple of other possible plot devices are Nikki had a baby with hubby # 1 Greg Foster and when she joined that cult they took her baby or she slept with Brock making him heir the the Chancellor millions........GAG!!!

I don't know how I feel about this story, but it's no more ridiculous than Adam being a helluva lot older than Heather or Colleen being a helluva lot younger than Billy.

I mean, Steve Burton being the Jack/Nikki baby that was born in 1993 is no more absurd than Michael Muhney being Victor Jr. who was born in 1994.

We might as well accept that REAL human emotion in storylines are a thing of the past. Nobody has the patience for them anymore, and nobody definitely has the skill or the will to write them. Good stuff could be done, and be more moving that viewers could possibly know, but none of these hacks from sub-par ABC soaps are going to give us anything good, that's why all but one of the ABC soaps are ALL GONE. I don't think we'll ever see raw emotion on Y&R like this ever again.

It's not about the ABC soaps being inferior, but they are DIFFERENT. NBC, ABC, PGP and the Bell soaps all have their own unique style. Also, they're not trying to recreate an ABC soap at it's peak, they're trying to recreate what was done in the 00s under the Frons regime....things that didn't work. That is the problem.

Yes, all three network soaps do have their own styles and themes. It is just that networks today steal/take from each other actors/storylines. It is almost getting silly to see the revolving door cycle of actors making the rounds with the 4 remaining soaps and storylines being copied too.
