DAYS: Actress OUT!

Even if she is, Sweeney's schedule is unique because she works on 2 NBC shows. She doesn't have a catered schedule like Steve Burton so he can fly home and have a long weekend. She juggles more than one show not want a catered schedule so she can spend her time at home.

I agree -- we fans always seem to feel she was meant to be Kristen, she shines as Kristen, she's wasted as Ashley... but time and time again, evidence comes up that she seems to feel the opposite. Her career is clearly Ashley and her side project is Kristen :(

I'm just glad that we DID get to see Kristen again one last time. Don't know if I will continue to watch DAYS. ALL of the show has been better but I agree she was largely carrying it.

Because nothing in soaps in general generates 1/100 as much buzz as soaps in the 1990s.

I really like her interview which is upfront without being angry, pitying or defensive (side-eyes Michelle Stafford). I am inclined to believe her when she says that the workload was nuts, and that her priorities have changed. She is focused on her homelife and her mom -- her Twitter reflects as much.

But I also believe her when she says that this last year at Days has been an extraordinary one. Backstage politics were likely much less toxic than at Y&R, and she seems to have made friends with Eric Martsolf, James Scott and others. If I were EM, I would be devastated. ED has been by far his most interesting and chemistry-full pairing since he has been on the show.

I selfishly would love her to stay for another couple of years but, as she pointed out, Kristen's story can only go on so long without burning itself out. I appreciate that she wants to leave while her character's viability remains intact. I will sorely miss her glamazon presence, though. ED is such an elegant, first-rate actress.

AS isnt the only one days works around, shes just the only one they do it due to working another job for the network.

This interview was great. She is open, honest and not bitter, angry or blaming anyone. She understands this pace is what Days has to do today and that her character isnt one to sit on the backburner or support stories. Days, may be a great m-f 8-5 a week job with tons of weeks off but its also an insane amount of work when working. Esp for someone in lead.

I wish her the best and would welcome her for any amount of time at Y&R or Days, or anywhere really.

I still believe there is a lot more to the story. So they wanted to keep it a secret since ED will be airing through November and she stopped filming two weeks before she made the announcement and did the interview? It doesn't quite make sense that they would do this with almost four months of her airing. It's now very anti-climactic and, honestly, I'm no longer invested in how this all plays out on the screen. It's too bad. As I said earlier, ED brought me back to DAYS (after years of not watching) and now I really don't care. Perhaps, this is a test to determine how much people want Kristen around? IDK - I hate DAYS filming schedule because it doesn't allow them to capitalize on storylines that suddenly catch fire, but I guess that's the way they make the production $$$ work.

Times have changed and her run this time was limited. Before she was on for 4-5 years and she had more time to do things, but even still I don't think her run this time around was all that interesting compared to what she did before because the writers didn't utilize her in the best way. I think they pretty much island her with Brady through out most of it and the fallout from that situation was pretty much contained within there and the revenge scheme was pretty basic. I would have preferred if she came on and just started terrorizing people, like EJ did during the beginning of his Elvis DiMera arc. I think that would have been a bit more thrilling and daring. Things in Days are too safe and I think it needs to be reinvigorated, even though the show actually is good and character driven again.

It's the wrong DiMera. I'm no Kristen fan thanks to the Eileen Davidson Extravaganza of the 90's, but I'd happily keep her in Salem forever if it meant I could send Elvis away. Oh well, I'm already not watching so it's not really news that affects my viewing life. I do feel bad for the ones who were so excited by her return though. I've been there and as usual Days screwed it up again.

I'm hoping this means we get to see Peter, Matt, Bryan, Drake... hell, throw in Stephen and Charles and I'd be happy. I can also dream, because as long as Corday's in charge of this program and TomSell's writing we're screwed.

It only takes Matt and Peter to get me back as a regular watcher, Days. Just saying. I think a lot of people would come back with me. wink.png

To each his own. A lot of us miss Matt and are very vocal, and then there is the other side. Disagreement is healthy.

I do wish the show could get Louise back for a limited run, but I wouldn't be surprised if a giant middle finger came back in their direction. Wouldn't hurt to try.
