I'm shocked they dropped her, as she makes so much money for them and was already going on the apology tour. I wonder if there was something going on we don't know about, that they did know.

Most of the articles on this seem to be full of comments making her a martyr. I can see her getting a gig on Fox News.

This article is the type of love letter I'd been seeing, and one of the reasons I was surprised.

Someone made a response to her first apology.

I wonder what the other FN stars are thinking about this matter....?

Giada: "I should have known her beliefs all along when at that network party she called me 'Mrs. Chef Boyardee' and ordered me to carve a stick of butter in the shape of the Leaning Tower of Pisa."

Barefoot Contessa: "Now I'M the chief big girl in this game! Good riddance, you hick! HaHa!"

Sandra Lee: "Whenever we stood right by each other, we resembled the number '10'. Anyway.... Cocktail Time!"

If it wasn't for Paula Deen, the Neelys would have never had a show (they aren't on Food Network, anymore, though), after they appeared on her show, they got a deal for their own. I know people want to pile on and label Paula an awful person, but she's pretty real on her show and her interactions with black people didn't suggest that she's this over the top racist. She hasn't even told her side yet and we know that lawsuits have a lot of muck that isn't always that truthful. I'm in the minority here, but I honestly can't hate on Paula Deen.

OK, honestly -

Do I think Paula Deen is some cross-burning, gigantic racist? No. But she should have known better, especially as someone in the public eye. Even to briefly (according to her) contemplate an "Old Plantation Wedding", with all-black servers, is irksome.

Other than that, I've ALWAYS found her disgusting (racist or not). Sorry.

People have the right to defend Paula and its understandable considering she's been such a loved figure for so long, but I dont get why people act like those that are appaled by her actions/words are wrong! Really? Like Im supposed to be a-okay with these recent revelations and continue to love her inspite of her degradation of black people? HELL NO, I dont feel wrong about being dissapointed in what Ive read and disgusted that it came from her and Im not sorry she got fired.

bc she has a great bubbly personality that is very welcoming and comfortable. She just gave off the image of a very nice grandma. Its really her screen presence and way she worked the camera that made her popular; not really her food, which always faced criticism.

anyways stuff I found on Tumblr

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
