THR: Taylor Swift Eras Tour Shows Canceled in Vienna After Arrests Made in Planned Terrorist Attack

Austrian concert promoter Barracuda Music shared the announcement in a social media post on Wednesday writing, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Vienna Shows cancelled due to government officials confirmation of planned terrorist attack. With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”

It was obviously the right decision to cancel the concerts, but I feel so bad for the fans who waited over a year for this, especially those who were about to see Taylor for the first time, or those young children who had their outfits planned and friendship bracelets made.

I was lucky enough to attend the Eras Tour three times - I was just in Europe last month to see her twice - and one of the favourite moments from the concerts was seeing so many happy young children.  I remember this one girl who was probably 7-8 years old......my friends and I were making friendship bracelets in the hotel restaurant before our concert in Amsterdam......she and her mom walk in, and the girl is decked out in this black reputation style outfit and her hair was slicked back and her wrists were full of friendship bracelets.  She was so cute and the concert was going to be her first ever concert.  And now there are thousands of parents who will have to break their children's heart.  I know it's just a concert and it's good that nothing truly horrendous happened but this really sucks.

And this coming after those senseless murders of three young girls in the UK who attended a Taylor Swift theme event at their dance studio.   Taylor brings so much joy to people and it's awful to see deranged people ruin that.

The Eras Tour is over.

It's been such a huge part of my life these last 21 months, from leaving my country to see her three times, to watching live streams, to scrolling through tons of clips on IG, and to making life-long friends.  I can't wait for the next tour.

Billboard: Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour Wraps as First Tour to Pass $2 Billion in Sales

Swift played to 10 million fans from 2023-24.

On Sunday night (Dec. 8), Taylor Swift played the last of 149 shows on The Eras Tour. As reported earlier Monday, the record-setting trek grossed more than $2 billion and sold over 10 million tickets: $2,077,618,725 and 10,168,008, respectively, to be exact.

The news was first reported by The New York Times.

Without qualification, The Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time, by artists of any genre, and from any era in music history. If compared to data officially reported to Billboard Boxscore, it is the biggest tour ever by an unthinkable distance of more than $900 million, blasting past Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour (2022-ongoing) – the only other tour to gross more than $1 billion – by a margin of almost two-to-one.

Even before The Eras Tour was announced, Swift was one of the most successful touring acts of her generation. Dating back to her first reported solo headline show at Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading, Pa. (April 6, 2007), she has grossed $3 billion across her career, when adding The Eras Tour’s sum to officially reported data for her prior tours to Billboard Boxscore.

Previously, her biggest tour – according to Billboard Boxscore – came when Swift brought in $345.7 million and sold 2.9 million tickets on 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour, marking a 38% leap from the earnings on 2015’s The 1989 World Tour. The Eras Tour multiplies her prior best more than six times over.

--------------------

The bolded part - what an insane stat! She could've played a hundred more shows and they woul'dve all sold out.  The demand was there. The scary thing is, she's brought in NEWER/MORE fans since this tour started.  So there's a possibility, the next tour could be even bigger if she decides she wants to break her own record.

Yes, I got very lucky.  Was able to get tickets at face value, so I never paid those ridiculous secondary market prices.  That's awesome you're going to watch the tour movie with him.  Taylor is for everyone. LOL  You could be 5 years old or 65 years old and you would see them at her concerts. She is someone who you can listen to with your family, no matter the age.  It's a reason why her fanbase is so huge - it's very inclusive and welcoming.

It was an anti-Chiefs/pro-Eagles crowd - you could tell from the introduction of the teams at the beginning. Non Chiefs fans don't like them winning a lot and some believe the refs are "rigging" the game for the Chiefs.  LOL   As a Tom Brady fan, Mahomes is still 4 Super Bowls behind Brady.

    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
    • Add Dr. Montgomery to list of fine women on this show! I hope the show goes forward with Madison/Chelsea and then once they're developed, bring back Allison, who is now divorced or a widow, for a Madison/Chelsea/Allison triangle.  It would definitely be the hottest triangle in daytime.
    • I wonder if Linda Bloodworth-Thomason had Kim in mind for any of her other characters/series. If they intended Allison Sugarbaker (Julia Duffy's character) to be more in line with who Suzanne was/Delta Burke's portrayal-persona, then I think Kim would have aced that. Yes, it would have been odd, Kim having previously played a different character (from a different family), but Designing Women wouldn't have been the first show with that issue. Or maybe Kim could have played Beth Broderick's role on Hearts Afire. Or Patricia Heaton's role on Women of the House.
    • Sony is probably waiting until Y&R’s lease is up as well. All of TV City is going to be gutted, so they have to relocate at some point.
    • At this point Y&R's next step is to go fully green screen and have the actors Zoom from home.
    • I was just taking about this in the Y&R thread - they desperately need better studio space.
    • Errol posted that Ed Scott retired
