Members Winchester91
I'm ready for a new kind of AMC, indeed. A lot of the stories have been stagnant lately (though, the individual character material has been good so far).
Members EricMontreal22
Where i he "raping of women" Carolyn is complaining about on the current shows? Still, I think it's a fairly sane ;piece on the change.
Members cassadine1991
i think she is referring to the sex-trafficking s/l on AMC
Members EricMontreal22
Exactly. Then again I tend to be one of those people who will watch a tv show I love even if it's obvious it's going to be canceled soon wherea a lot of my friends now won't start till they are guaranteed a full season. Yeah well then I kinda disagree.
Members ~bl~
The someone is pregnant in real life, wonder who that is. When it comes to 62% are new viewers, how do they know that? Did anyone see or take a poll?
Members marceline
I thought she was just throwing some shade at ABC. But admittedly, when I hear "rape" I think ABC not PP.
Members EricMontreal22
Me too--but then when I re-read it I thought she meant the outed writing teams
Members DramatistDreamer
I thought she was referring to the tendency of Daytime Soaps to use rape to launch romantic entanglements and pivotal figures (Luke/Laura, Todd Manning, even Roger/Holly on GL, not to mention the ridiculous 'he said, she said' case of Paul and Christine of Y&R and Jessica and Marshall of ATWT). You have to admit that rape has been used as a storytelling staple in daytime soaps. It's an unfortunate history. There once was a time when it was gripping and socially aware but now it just appears to be fodder to give actors a chance to emote with no genuine consequences. As talented as these actors are, the idea of a rapist become a newspaper magnate or your local neighborhood entrepreneur is just ridiculous.
