Y&R: Jeanne Cooper has passed away

I hope it's ok to make a separate topic on this.

Wasn't sure how I would have to say these words so I opt for simplicity at least to begin...

My mother passed away this morning just a short time ago, peaceful with my sister by her side, in her sleep. I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self - time is a precious thing. I too am at peace however. I said my goodbyes several times over during the last few weeks. I'll go one last time now for a gentle kiss a final farewell for this lifetime. She has been a blaze her entire life, that beacon, that boxer I spoke of earlier. She went the full twelve rounds and by unanimous decision... won! And while her light finally gave into the wind that gives flight to all our journeys, there will always be a glimmer left behind by what she stood for. I will speak about that more in coming days, months I suppose. I will certainly dedicate what remains of my life to continue her purpose of honesty, equality, humility, empathy and love. So many of you have said your prayers for her and right now, today, I can say the best way to honor her is to inhabit your lives with those things she stood for. I would ask that closer friends respectfully give us some time to find our family's path in this transition, and please limit calls, emails and the rest for a couple of days. As always, your outpouring of love here on this page, is not only welcomed to continue but truly appreciated and comforting. I asked my sister what time she passed exactly, and she told me (not to important for public record) but I was working out and just happened to pick out a song for my final moments on the treadmill - "Everlasting Light" by the Black Keys. Oh what a wonder it all is... what a magnificence!

Someone mentioned it earlier that me-TV should pay homage to Jeanne Cooper and they are on May 9th. Thinking about it again, they bring back Dina & John for this occasion too.

I figured they'd do something like this. They're very quick to make adjustments to honor legendary character actors.

Her final scenes were filmed on Y&R's 40th anniversary day (March 26), btw.

I have a feeling she knew all along what she was doing, yeah.

A huge piece of what is left of daytime died today. This saddens me greatly. While Y&R was not MY soap, I've watched off and on throughout the years and through it all Katherine/Jeanne was a tour de force. Y&R is a shell of its former self as it is, but even that shell is breaking now with Jeanne Cooper gone.

My thoughts are with her family during this time.... Jeanne still up until recently seemed so vibrant and full of life... I guess going quickly like this is probably best than lingering for years.

I've never watched Y&R, but I KNOW how much she meant to the show, and I know it will never be the same without her. I'm hoping to get her book one day soon.

I'm rarely one to take her side, but I'm not sure what Jill could have said beyond what she did. Everyone knows she is a relatively new EP. It was a simple statement.

It's been forever since I've posted in any community, but this news just depresses me and I needed to post with others that truly care for the genre. Jeanne Cooper was always an energetic and dynamic individual and remarkable actress. I will NEVER forget the years of laughters and tears she provided me; and I know this sounds cheesy, but even after falling off from Y&R, I feel like I have just lost a dear family member. I am truly saddened by Jeanne departure and my deepest condolences goes out to all her loved ones. RIP Jeanne, you phenomenal woman! I will never forget you, and I will always respect you and your craft.

Y&R will NEVER be the same. This is truly an end of the era. Two of the BELL's finest have left an incredible void and remarkable legacy on their respective shows. sad.pngsad.pngsad.png

She should have passed the task on to an assistant who had been with the show longer if she found herself at a loss for words. I haven't been the EP of the show even a single day, don't watch the show and never will, and I could conjure up a warmer statement effortlessly.
