I’m so happy to watch a new episode of DR and not see that disclaimer about Sherry Pie’s disqualification lol.

I hate the gimmick of the girls who lost their opening round lipsyncs voting off another girl. It just feels like they’ve brought one of worst parts of All-Stars to the mothership.

People on Twitter are THIRSTING for him out of drag.

I love this group of girls!  Many standouts.  Symone is gorgeous.  Rose is drama and I'm here for it.  Utica is so weird which is fascinating to me.

I loved that we got to see them all lip sync so early, but I don't like that someone is going home from a vote before the competition starts.  Hopefully we're wrong and that's not what really happens.

Ooooo...lol.

And great premiere. Very different for sure. And I'm glad my system is saving it for me. lol. My new Friday nights after work.

And I see ARKANSAS is representing. lol. I love Symone's style. An early favorite for me. And that lipsync. YES.

Not sure why they felt to add this twist to ep 1.

It got a bit repetitive and all those lip syncs diminished the impact, especially as no-one really slayed it.

I wasn't super impressed with any of the outfits.

My favorite would have to be Symone - just came across as naturally amusing as opposed to Tina Burner who was channelling big girl drag 101 and the quirky one who seemed to be bizarre for the sake of it.

Let the music play!

Olivia Lux is my favourite so far. She's gorgeous and seems like such a sweetheart. I actually liked her in the lip-synch more than Symone.

Gottmik's runway outfit was amazing. Best look of the night. Though I did think La-la-ri's was really beautiful and she seems like she could be one of the narrators of the season.

Elliott got on my nerves this episode. I would have voted for her to get the Pork Chop. Though Utica's hairline showing was cringe.

Congrats to Symone on being the first winner of the season!

And I am praying that's the last we see of Tina Burner in those hideous Ronald McDonald colours. Eye-gougingly ugly.

I was impressed with Olivia Lux, especially considering she’s new to drag. She’s a natural.

The thing I loathe about Drag Race, which has only gotten worse in recent seasons, is their need to reinvent the wheel and create contrived drama with rule changes and what-not. I get they want to have a “messy,” campy, soapy show, but it’s as if they have no confidence in the CUN&T of the queens to keep viewers involved. Oh but there has to be a gag-worthy twist, gurl, or the gays will be bored.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.  Especially because SOD often published questions by readers who wondered why Tad and Jenny didn't speak like their mother.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
