Legacy character. That term drives me bonkers, especially since it's debatable who is and isn't one anyway.

I hate that one.

Tired of retcon too. Not everything is a retcon

Bash! Ugh, I hate this words because stans use it to keep others from talking about their favs and manipulated moddies on other boards to integrate it into their policies.

On many boards, you are not able to say when someone can't act. You can't say that the outfit a person was wearing is unflattering. You can't say you don't like a hair cut, etc. SOC is the lead offender!

I hate that damn word so much!

I got banned from a message board before because I said an actor couldn't act and the fangurls got upset. The bash rules only apply to whoever the mods at SOC like. "Bash" threads will stay up for hours and days if it's about some one they don't like.

Here's another one: "tentpole character."

And one I wish we could overuse, but haven't had a story that qualified in a LONG time- "umbrella story."

Oh it's still overused---just inappropriately for any story that takes over a show.

Umbrella story is used all the time to hype "Cartini". It is blind praise for throwing [!@#$%^&*] against the walls and being happy that it rains down on all the characters.

ITA I mostly hear it about their stories. Any story that involves more than 5 people is called an umbrella story

Stan. I hate that term and how people throw that out there if you like a certain character/couple they don't. It really seemed to have come out if nowhere but is used all the time now
