All I am saying is that they arent being written as the legacy couple they shoudl be al a the new Victor and Nikki, the end all couple, and imo thats becasuse Sony and CBS has no interest in them as that type of couple, but hope springs eternal!!

They seem intent on pushing Nick with Avery at the moment. Who known why....

Michelle Stafford said a few weeks are that Nick and Phyllis were finished as far as she was concerned and she wouldn't understand it if her character went back in that direction. So, with both Sharon and Phyllis in other stories with other partners, it's probably just Avery and Nick for the time being...

MAB is a Bell and she did not write Nick and Sharon as star cross lovers so I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. I always got the sense that something is going on behind the scenes with JM and SC. Regardless, Nick and Sharon seem pretty much done as a couple which is too bad.

I meant run and owned by a Bell who believed in Bill's vision for the couple, MAB still answered to Sony and CBS, I am keeping my mouf closed on the last sentence LOL!

I wasn't talking about Nick and Sharon in that photo, I was talking about Joshua and Sharon Case. Like I said that second photo. Having done some theater myself in a past life, there is only so much acting one can do, especially when a straight man is chest to chest with a beautiful woman. I was imagining that they were both single back then or at least JM.

I have to say that I am not sure what Bill's vision was for Nick and Sharon. Did he give interviews about it? Just wondering.

As for MAB, as far as I am concerned she gets the blame for what was on the screen, while Sony/CBS should have never hired her and get the blame to letting stick around for so long.

They were supposed to be the new Victor and Nikki, but they werent b=cause they were together for 10 years whereas Nikki and Victor were not for the first half of their relationship.. They arent being written like Lily/Holden, Jack/Carly, Phillip/Beth for example.

ETA that MAB had every intention of reuniting Nick and Sharon in a grand romantic fashion in Pris in 08 and CBS/Sony halted it!

Nick is still strangely overprotective of Sharon and nosy about her love life for some reason, but Sharon isn't the same with him. It's a stranger dynamic.

I don't think MAB cared about Sharon period, LOL.

Strange how, he hates Adam, and as Nick sdtated, it has nothign to do with him wanting Sharon, its all bout Adam, and JM states the same thing in his 40th anniversary clip. I didnt see him overprotective of sharon with dylan, he just doesnt want Dylan to stay intown cause of Avery. I guess it depends on the person cause sharon sure did care when Nick and Phyllis got togethr last year LOL!

I have to admit that I am skeptical about this, but I will ask; why would Sony/CBS care enough to stop a Nick/Sharon reunion, given the amount of crap and horrible decisions (Brad and Colleen's deaths), etc. that Sony/CBS signed off on?

I still think that there is tension or some issue between JM and SC behind the scenes.

Nick is always concerned about Sharon's love life, it's not just Adam or Dylan, he always has a problem or issue with whatever direction she wants to take her life in, regardless of the children or not. I mean, just a few months ago, he was concerned that she wanted to go back to work (before she told him she was going to work with Adam), and even though she had her bipolar condition seemingly under control. Sharon's health and professional life are really none of his business unless it's directly impacting their children - which it wasn't at that point.

He doesn't have the same care or concern about Phyllis for example and who know what it will be like with Avery if they split up. Frankly, he doesn't even acknowledge Phyllis anymore (and vice versa - she only attacks Avery), not in the same way he acknowledges Sharon, and he's dating Phyllis's sister!

Always? Mustve missed the big concern bout Billy, Sam or Jack, or when he let her rot in jail for months, or when she got 35 years in prison and he was liek "cya', damn MAB was a horrible writer LOL.

The same way they cared bout breaking up Lane the two times MAB trued and CBS/sony halted it, amongst all the other bad decisions they let MAB get awau with

I know what I know and you can believe it or not, thats cool. If you remember back when the Paris thang was announced, onklu SC, JM, ED, and EB were announced to be going, and at the last minute MS was added and ended up going!!

You are the one who statesd ALWAYS and I pointed out why he interferes with Adam or Dylan who are recent examples, and I can understand his cioncern bout her going to NE to work. As for Phyllis, not going there with you, and that whole debatem take your shick/Phick fandom to Sony or SOC LOL!.

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
