Peter Bergman talks about AMC and OLTL
“You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in daytime television who isn’t cheering them on,” says Bergman, of the new Web-based soaps. “I hope it is a massive success and I’m one person who’s going to buy Hulu Plus and check it out.” (Though the first episodes of AMC and OLTL went live on Apr. 29, Bergman said he planned to watch later in the week—one of the advantages of online viewing.)
Bergman says that he never believed the network would actually cancel the shows, but knows that the salad days of soaps have long passed. “I got to ride the crest of the wave back in the ‘80s,” he says. “It was an extraordinary time. It was a national phenomenon, this daytime thing. Those days were heady days and they’ve passed, but what’s there now is still really significant.”

I liked that interview. LOL @ Bergman wanting ABC to be embarrassed over ABC cancelling them. It's nice he's supportive.

Just got back from Cape Cod to find my One Life to Live script had arrived. It's the premiere episode and runs about 70 pages. It's pretty close to what we saw on screen except for a few things. In the script, as Destiny arrives at Shelter, a cougar who is waiting in line cops an attitude that Destiny is allowed into the club before the others who are waiting. Also, there is a brief scene between Jeffrey and Matthew who are waiting in line. Jeffrey has his suitcase with him and Shelter bouncer Diego searches Jeffrey's bag, rifling through his clothing in the process. Matthew mocks Jeffrey for having tighty whities in his suitcase. Also, some dialogue was changed. For instance, the script has Viki using terms like it's and couldn't. And as we all know, Victoria Lord doesn't use contractions!
I'll see if I can get some good images of the script to post.

Where do you go on the Cape? I go to Chatham every summer. I know Ms. Francesca James has a home up there. As did Mary Fickett for a long time.

I go to Provincetown a couple times each year. Our friend has a condo there so I went up to work on revising my novel. I took at writing class at Castle Hill in Truro back in 2005. None other than Guiding Light director Harry Eggart was in the class. He was writing a mystery set backstage at a soap. Very talented scribe. The teacher and I had a fun time talking with Harry about GL, Kelly, Nola, and Bert Bauer.
