Why do I feel like the character in question could be Natalia? Shannon Kane never outright said she wasn't doing it, I think she's retweeted things about it a few times on Twitter. And she lives in NYC. I could be wrong but you never know.

EDIT: Look what I just found!

If the filming schedule allows for flexible schedules for other projects, I think most of them would be open to it at least, especially if they're based on the East Coast.

Angela, does it sounds like the character in question could be Natalia? Is anything said about her personality or relationship to Jesse?

For me, the "deal breaker" on that spoiled story will be about how the woman in question is written. If she's smart and strong and fighting back, it could be interesting. If they make her a typical soap damsel, it will be...unfortunate.

ETA: Dear Lawd, don't even tease me with the thought of seeing my beloved Shannon Kane/Natalia again. And in a real story? *faints*

My three soap goddesses of the last few years are Amanda Setton, Shannon Kane and Shenaz Treasury. And now I might see two of the three of them again? You may faint but I definitely will. Honorary mention to Melissa Claire Egan. Goddamn, was she fantastic. She just wasn't really 'on' the show by the end so I didn't include her.

I'm not familiar with Setton's or Treasury's work although I do remember seeing the excitement around both actresses and their characters. But you and I are likethis when it comes to SK and Missy Claire.

True but this is the chance to break that bad habit. These reboots are the opportunity to learn from mistakes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

What I enjoyed most about AMC until McTavish's last exit is the show was always so filled with all different level of bitches. I don't mean bitches with a bad connotation. I loved it. Soaps by nature were built more for a female audience and I loved that the females on this show were mostly shown as fierce beasts.

Ew.

Forget the race issue for a minute (which most people love to do even though it's absolutely significant but I won't even get into that right now), if this is true then we're still basing stories on the sexualization of young women. Actual young women, their (alleged) target demo, don't want to see this. Gay men don't want to see this (we (well, I do) like our women strong). Hell, normal straight guys don't want to see this!

It's really maddening. You can write stories without dehumanizing women. If this is what we're getting what is the point off watching? This isn't progressive at all.

I really REALLY hope these sides are just to gauge the actors ability to play various emotions and not their intention with the storylines.

    • If Sally Field had been more generous about the writing I would say that her assessment is really very fair. I found Soapdish very funny. The cast is great. Delirious with John Candy and Mariel Hemingway (and Emma Samms!) came out the same year and I had expected to prefer Delirious, but Soapdish is one that I can watch repeatedly.
    • I love SOAPDISH but I think TOOTSIE is better. Generally I am quite fond of gender-benders. VICTOR, VICTORIA, most favorite.
    • On GL we only saw young GA's Philip in very short shorts but on AMC we saw GA's Alec McIntyre in a speedo.  But, on GL, an older GA/Philip is having sex with Olivia in a hotel room where Bruce Barry was directing & he & she both end up down to nothing but black underwear & at one point his bicep is covering her entire upper body so it appears that she is naked. I think they ended up on the floor between the bed & the wall. That was when I realized that Grant's body was better than Steve Burton's. (Olivia was cheating. Her husband Alan was in the hospital.) It is notable that I can speak with any insight AT ALL about these bodies since that is not the team I play for! LOL
    • I mentioned that last week and I am glad Tate and Sophia just realized that today lol.  I think the show is just tying up some of Ron's loose ends.   You would think Brady, Holly or even Marlena would have perhaps pointed out the age thing to Tate at some point. I am not sure I like this shift in Sophia's characterization though.  MK played Sophia as someone who always defied her mom's rules-she just didn't get caught.  She was openly trying to steal Tate from Holly with no shame, showing up at the Horton cabin in bikinis to seduce him, and blackmailing Holly to work all her shifts at the Bistro.  Once the recast started the show has acted like Sophia's lived in her room, sheltered her entire life lol.
    • I thought Dante was going to put hands on Gio
    • If Jordan never appeared again, I would absolutely not notice or miss her.  So, while Brook Kerr has her flaws, she at least appears to have a pulse and a personality as Portia.
    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
    • I shared this on Twitter and good grief the comments. Steffy fans can be such vile real-life human beings over a fictional character lol.
    • I remember Michael Logan interviewed L.A. actors/production staff about the movie. Susan Seaforth Hayes said she was dying to know Susan Lucci's reaction.
    • Thanks @Franko  @slick jones You may be interested in the Elisabeth Shue mention. I have to laugh that they apparently didn't even know Teri Hatcher was on Capitol. I have scans somewhere of SPW talking with soap actors about Soapdish. Some, like Mary Stuart, were not happy. I never had a lot of interest in the movie myself.
