Anyone else love this show?

Watching it right now. I think "A My Name is Alex" is my all time favorite episode. I can see why MJF won an emmy for that.

Such a great cast. I can't decide if I like Alex with Lauren or Ellen.

I haven't seen this show (regularly) since it originally aired when I was a kid (though I did try when they gave it on The Hub, though it seemed as if the episodes were out of order). I remember enjoying it, but I honestly couldn't remember a single specific episode (though I do remember occurrences here and there).

I vaguely remember watching Ellen, but know most of her through the memories shared on message boards. Lauren, I remember a bit better because that was the first time that I'd seen Courteney Cox on TV. Is it true that Lauren was a bootleg version of the Ellen character (who either left/was let go at some point in the show) or is that based on certain viewers' preference for the latter character?

Another question I've got for those who remember the show better than I do: was Growing Pains truly ABC's attempt to capitalize on the success of this show (a la their attempt to capitalize on Diff'rent Strokes with Webster)? Or is that an accusation based on some folks' preference for Family Ties/their hatred for Kirk Cameron?

I used to watch this show when I was a teen in the early 2000s, and I actually have the first season on DVD. Remember Tom Hanks as the alcoholic Uncle Ned?

I love Family Ties. I had a huge crush on Michael J. Fox. I have the first 5 seasons on dvd and season 6 is coming this spring!

Love it, I have most of the seasons on DVD and look forward to getting the next one. One my favorite scenes is where Elyse goes to West Virginia and embarrasses Alex at that bar she told him not to go too.

Loved Alex P. Keating and MJF was perfectly cast! I'm gonna have to look for reruns now.
