Conrad Bain, who played Philip Drummond, a wealthy white widower who adopts two young African-American brothers in the hit sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," died Monday, the Associated Press reports. He was 89.

I'm now in tears. I loved Conrad.

I just heard on MSNBC. I thought he would have outlived them all. Only Todd Bridges is left from the cast. How sad.

NO! I was just watching on Antenna TV the other night, and it was a scene with Mr. Drummond, Mrs. Garrett, Kimberly, and Arnold. I thought about how strange it was that the younger two were no longer with us while the older two were, but now I guess that's not so.

Of course, he was also on Maude.

AMS, I had similar thoughts just the other night. Since Antenna has been showing DS, I've been seeing a LOT of him lately, also on Maude. He lived a very long life and I hope he enjoyed his years of retirement. I seem to remember that he had a twin brother, I don't know if he's still with us or not.

Mr. Drummond! I use to watch Different Strokes with my family. We loved that show.

Rest in peace, Conrad.

I remember him best as the innkeeper on Dark Shadows. He only appeared a few times, but had a very memorable death via werewolf Chris Jennings. I remember his hammy, terrified face in closeup.

I'll miss Conrad. I saw Todd Bridges in August and he told me that they spoke on the phone & saw each other often. It's nice to know that despite Todd's problems over the years, Conrad never wrote him off.
