Truth or Dare: Embarrasing Soap Confessions Edition

Okay, I'll stick with the mostly embarrassing and nerdy soap confessions, cuz I'm PROUD to say I have all the soap books, 24 years worth of Soap Opera Digest back issues, 3 milk crates full of VHS tapes of soap episodes, and a full-size framed Bo & Hope poster on the wall in my den! smile.png

At the tender age of 13, the first time I ever diddled myself it was to an image of Austin Peck.

I have just about every soap theme on my iPod. I also have certain GL and DAYS scenes that I made audio files of, of certain scenes with particular background music. I'd be lying if I said I never listen to them. Years ago in the 90's, I did the same sort of thing on cassette tape. On those tapes were also audio of some of the Soap Opera awards.

When I was around 21-22, my voicemail was the 1950's Guiding Light opening theme.

From 1997-1999, I did an AOL newsletter for Guiding Light. By the time I ended it, I had over 1500 readers. Not too shabby! smile.png

Once in 9th grade, I had to do some random English essay about any topic, and I did an article about demonic possession, using an article from Soap Opera Digest when they interviewed a real priest about the legitimacy of Marlena's possession on DAYS.

I did an hour long highschool video that I wrote, produced, directed, and edited called "The Young and the Helpless". It was acted by 4 of my friends who played it very seriously, but it contained all the necessary soap cliches (evil twins, mistaken identity, secret past, fantasy sequence, etc.) and I used the Days of Our Lives music CD from 1998 as background music, along with other soaplike music. The main character names were Bo, Hope, and Gina. It wasn't all for fun though. It actually got me a partial scholarship to the college I went to. smile.png Wait, I guess that's not embarrassing...

I got my college degree in Television writing and production, so I definitely had many soap opera themed projects and videos that I did, including one that did the history of gay characters on soaps, with myself as being the one interviewed as a so-called "expert" on the topic (my professor asked for a copy of it to show future classes... God, I hope she's lost that tape by now)

One time when I was about 11 or 12 (when the show was on), my sister and I would act out the opening to Models Inc. hahaha

Later this year when we move into our new home, I will be getting a new kitty to replace my deceased cat that I affectionately called the "small gray bunny" (hence my screenname).... her name will be Reva. smile.png

Here you go Tim..enjoy...hehehehe

Patrick Muldoon and Austin Peck were two of my biggest crushes in the 90s.

I used to get Patrick Muldoon confused with RPG. Which one dated Yasmine Bleeth, PM, right? I remember them from the Psychic Friends infomercials.

An while we're at it--I remember having a wet dream shortly after he came to AMC, on Edmund Gray. I guess I always had a thing for chest hair.. ph34r.png

Although ATWT didn't air here in the 80's and 90's (at least I don't think it did) I had the biggest crushes on Holden and the original Dusty from reading soap mags at the time. I always wondered what it would be like of they got together.

July 4, 1992...I was 14 years old and ran 5 blocks in less than 5 minutes to watch Y&R...preview had Neil shirtless and throwing Dru in the Newman pool...no way was I going to miss that. That was the ONLY day during the summer (during school times I taped CBS soaps with a VCR), that I didn't stand in front of the TV and slip from CBS soaps during commercials to ABC soaps...and it was a manual turn knob so I couldn't sit down...I stood there for 3 hours everyday (I only watched GH and not GL so no turning necesary after OLTL and ATWT).

Anyone else play The Sims? I can't be the only one who has created a whole neighborhood on there that's dedicated to their favorite soaps town. I made Pine Valley in "The Sims 2" and It's still going strong. Kendall divorced Zach and got married to me on there and we have a mansion & five kids now.

I started Salem from the beginning on Sims 3 unfortunately Julie ended up having twins instead of just David for David Martin.
