There are no good romances on GH or any other soap. We would be better off hoping that he has a good parking space or a nice pen and pencil set for his birthday.

Which, in a way, shows how far TV has come. Do I find his character somewhat stereotypical (understatement)? HELL yes, but it wasn't all that long ago where you had an episode of All in the Family (with Tony Geary and Phil Carey, no less!) where the word wasn't even used, or in the case of Robert Reed or Dick Sargent, had to hide their sexualities in order to keep their jobs on family-friendly sitcoms (and from what I've heard, Reed hated/was ashamed of his orientation, which is just tragic).

Robert Reed was absolutely miserable about being gay, but he was not fortunate enough to live in a time where politicians and TV personalities were openly gay. Florence Henderson said it really took a toll on the cast (the others didnt know). RR complained about the smallest things, everything bothered him and he would not stick to scripts. It was so bad that they had to write Mike out of scenes he really should have been in.

And yet, what they did with Layla was the best thing she ever did on that show and gained her a real fan interest, as opposed to trotting around carrying Evangeline's veil and singing accompaniment on their random musical interludes. She was also, for my money, a better actress. She did great work that year.

I don't mind Felix. It's a small part, but I'm happy to see any people of color and particularly LGBT people of color represented. Prior to OLTL a couple years ago I can't think of a single example of that on daytime.

Well, to be fair to OLTL (although that story sucked ass), they didn't have some type of passionate love scene with him and a woman months after his coming out.
