November 11, 201213 yr Member No this is terrifying!! Indeed. I still can't believe some people actually preferred her over Judith Chapman.
November 11, 201213 yr Member Not appearance-wise, but I thought she played Gloria with more heart, integrity, and less cheese than Chapman ever did.
November 11, 201213 yr Member I thought it was very foolish to do an opening when you could not afford to update it properly. That opening by the last two years could have just shown Victoria Wyndham, then cut to the Jeffersons credits. So true. Half the cast wasn't represented at the end. And any additions got simple head shots that weren't shot using the same film stock.

See, for me, Van Ark's appearance was too distracting to even notice her actual performance. She is literally the worst instance of plastic surgery gone wrong I've ever seen in daytime. Hunter Tylo, Lisa Rinna, etc. have nothing on her. I think Chapman's Gloria had plenty of heart and integrity at the beginning of her stint, when she was actually written to have those things, before LML and MAB turned her into a cartoon villain. I think she's starting to return to normal under the new regime.

November 11, 201213 yr Member Not that this thread is about Joan Van Ark's face, but IIRC, didn't she look like that for like days? Hence why every time people bring that up, it's her in the same damn outfit, yet people act like that's what she's looked like for the last five years. Granted, surgery's been bad to her, but can we stop pretending that the way she looked that day is permanent? Jeez.
November 11, 201213 yr Member I'm still a sucker for the final opening of Ryan's Hope. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpbRylM5pfM
November 11, 201213 yr Member I don't think we're supposed to post videos. I know, but I couldn't find any caps from it.
November 11, 201213 yr Member I didn't mean to make that seem like it was directly to you - there were a few videos on the last page too. But if there are no caps then I see what you mean.

November 11, 201213 yr Author Member I don't think we're supposed to post videos. A couple here and there are okay. I know folks like Khan and myself have temperamental browsers that will freeze and crash when there are a lot of embedded videos in a thread. It happens to me all the time in the OLTL thread and that's why I'm so absent in the Favorite Opening Themes thread (which is one of my favorite subjects!), but my computer is just allergic to all that embedding.
November 11, 201213 yr Member Indeed. I still can't believe some people actually preferred her over Judith Chapman. She didnt look that bad when she was on Y&R

It was definetly for more than just a few days Edited November 11, 201213 yr by Cheap21
November 11, 201213 yr Author Member I think she needs to adjust her makeup for the red carpet because the flash bulbs do her no favors. She always looks better when she's warmly lit, like in this video (17:00):
