Girl Meets World - (Boy meets World spinoff)

  • Member

We've seen the highs and lows of Cory Matthews and his lifelong sweetheart Topanga. But what about their daughter?

TVLine reports that the Disney Channel is currently circling the prospect of a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girl Meets World. Not only that, but insiders say the cable network is looking to cast original series stars Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga); their two characters were married before the popular sitcom ended in 2000. The new series would focus their pre-teen daughter.

Since the end of Boy's seventh and final season, Savage has made numerous guest appearances on other TV shows like Chuck, Bones and Without a Trace. Meanwhile, Fishel's post-Boy work includes National Lampoon's Dorm Daze and hosting duties on Style Network's The Dish.

What do you think? Would you like to see a follow-up to ABC's staple coming-of-age series? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

I was always meh to Jack and Rachel but I wouldn't be upset to see them. The episodes are really re-watchable and the show has totally captured the feel of Boy Meets World, IMO.

I've always felt they should have done a spinoff with the original cast and with the success of Girl Meets World it should be easy. Shawn is already here and soon Eric and Angela will be too. Bring on Rachel and Jack, throw in some nostalgia and segue into their own show. I would love to see what these characters have been up to for the past ten years and what careers they now have. Cory and Topanga can do double duty on both shows.

IMO that would be redundant and take away from GMW

You're describing Boy Meets World lol

I'm not. Even though it's the same characters they're all adults with individual careers which would be completely different from BMW as the original was all about a young Cory who came of age. This would be an ensemble cast no different than "Friends" or "90210". I think it could work if Shawn was the lead with Cory playing the supporting role. This would in no way affect GMW.

On Disney? Who is checking for all of them? An episode or two to show what they have been up to is enough.

I just need Eric to do the Feeney call and I kinda want the black teacher from the early years to come back if he's around. The one Mr. Turner got a job. I seriously forgot his name and don't feel like looking up IMDb. I wonder if they'll ever decide about Morgan and if/when they do which actress will play the part.

THANK YOU! I really liked him in S1 with Mr. Turner and how they played off of Cory and Shawn.

I really need this series again in my life. Nothing like a good old rewatch.
