I doubt it will happen anymore than several attempts to let Peter Jackson do an ep did in the late 2000s-early 2010s due to conflicts in scheduling, but Wright does have a longstanding relationship with the production and in particular Steven Moffat (who he co-wrote Tintin with). And they did finally get Neil Gaiman for several eps.

I would love to see some New Adventures or classic people return again like Paul Cornell, who's been gone a long time and is mostly in comics atm. Or Ben Aaronovitch from the McCoy era, since they did manage to get Rona Munro back in Capaldi's era.

The really interesting stuff in the interview for me is the spinoff talk - we know he's been talking about it a long time, how to re-franchise the show again, but it's exciting to see it made manifest.

I didn't know about this article. (As it says it's not paywalled, you can click a link inside it to undo the block) It's in the news because of this. The video at the first link is good, but the other two parts of the article are linked in the tweet below (along with better quality images).

And over at Big Finish:

Speaking of spinoffs: Grain of salt, but rumor has it this latest Blu-Ray extra's focus and branding is not a coincidence.

@Vee Thanks for posting the old anniversary piece, and the new preview video. Such a moving, understated tribute to Stewart Bevan. I'm so glad a few of the Pertwee-era cast are still around for these promotions and moments.

I can't see Edgar Wright directing either, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

    • Today's Lucky and Liz scenes were horrible. There really is no way to explain Lucky's character. Not that anyone cared though. It looked like everyone involved just gave up, and that JJ couldn't get out of there fast enough.
    • I agree.  She has become ridiculous, and simply not a believable character.  She needs to tone it down, or get to jail as quickly as possible.   I completely agree.  A bit of an Upstairs, Downstairs vibe is really all BTG is missing.
    • Aimless. That's a good way to put it. As far as killing Drew, I really want Porsha to do it, but they somehow get her off.
    • They can't afford to use the hospital set -- that's what I'm guessing.  Poor Cole will probably die on Victoria's couch, and never be in the hospital.  Jeeze-Louise!!

    • Today was the weakest episode of the week. Seeing Leo on screen ruined the episode. Jennifer and Jack are just blah. The Jack pep talk to Leo was horrible.
    • Nina does seem very aimless. I'm not sure what is left for her, unless they want to pair her with Sonny again (which seems unlikely). Maybe she kills Drew and frames someone else.
    • -- It's getting easier to tell all the time when we're getting a new set -- in the weeks before the unveiling, we get even more Society/Crimson Lights/GCAC scenes than usual. Total absurdity. -- Does Lily eat every meal at the GCAC or Society? Sure seems like it. Of course, she did run into Nate, Audra, and Amy at the park. Nothing unusual about that, right? -- That park conversation among Amy, Nate, and Audra could not have been more awkward. It's a shame, but I don't even care that Amy is recovering. She never really seemed ill and they never gave us a reason to care about her. -- GMAB with Audra AGAIN "shedding a tear" and blaming it on allergies so we can remember that she has a hard shell but is also vulnerable. -- The "Kyle Signs A Contract" story is just embarrassing. -- That pales next to the "Is Cole Dying?" story. Cole is another character with history who Josh Griffith has led us to NOT care about. Seeing these people FOR DAYS ignore his sickness is something else.      Victoria gets a doctor to come to the house. It looks like someone they called off the street and said "Hey, you want to be an actor?" The performance was bad and the writing for him was worse.
    • She actually is a cute kid, but was unnecessarily too much
