Sheffer burnt himself out and was no longer a respectable writer a few years before he left ATWT. I loved him at one point, now he is just a clown writer, which works out perfectly because he looks like a clown!

Griffith does seem to like Ashley. He brought her back the very first week of his 2007-2008 stint IIRC.

Out of those I just want Adam, Abby, Kyle and (to a lesser extent) Cane to stay.

ETA: I've never watched Y&R, but with Jill coming on I have to ask: did Fiona leave GL on good terms with her? I all of a sudden kind of want her on the show now (I know, I know, she's doing The Bay--it's just a thought! If SoapBoy gets his Robin, I want my Fiona! ).

Yes, Fiona mentioned in her first exit interview from GL in 1994 about how much she adored JFP.

JFP offered her Jenna without an audition and despite ABC's smear campaign against her at the time. I was always surprised she never brought Gabrielle back to OLTL.

Yes Jill and Fiona got along well. Actually other than Bev McKinsey and Kim Simms, she pretty much got along with everyone at GL. While some in the cast weren't happy about Ellen Parker (Maureen) for the most part she did get along with the actors.
