Whitney and Jermaine Jackson

That was from when guest starred on ATWT before she made it big in 1984. There is a clearer version on the first page of this thread.

Queen of the Night was clearly inspired by En Vogue!

Totally, and to this day I confuse Free Your Mind and QotN in my head.

Diane Sawyer's overdramatic intro is the most addictive part of that interview - I watched that part over and over.

That interview is one of those things, right from the very start, when Whitney insists she'll never be fat, which you would assume was all scripted out long ahead of time.

I think I'd lost interest in SNL by then. What did you think of her Whitney?

I just wish Dionne hadn't lost her voice too.

I feel so awful for Cissy. I wonder if she can still sing.

Her Whitney was pretty darn funny and she did it as recently as last season in a guest appearance, but DW's is more "spot on".

Whitney and Dionne sang together at Clive's party last year, and it was clear how smoke cost them their soaring sopranos. Cissy was always gospel and R&B so the effect smoke had on her voice translated better. Cissy is of course the soprano hitting those amazing notes on Aretha's "Ain't No Way" as she did for Whitney in their Merv appearance.

That's a very sad video. (Try It On My Own) I can see why some reviews felt that album was very defensive.

I never knew she covered "You Light Up My Life."

Believe it or not, this was the very first time I had ever heard of her, when I was seven years old (1996).

I never knew she covered "You Light Up My Life."

So many jokes were made about that at the time. For obvious reasons. LOL!

RuPaul called it "You Light Up My Pipe."
